Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • The Education Coordinator coordinates multidisciplinary training or trains multidisciplinary teams including the Nursing Education Department on Respiratory related issues and/or equipment.

  • The Respiratory Care Education Coordinator, must be detail-oriented and self-motivated, and have leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • The Coordinator is an integral part of the Respiratory Care Services leadership team and clinical research team presenting pertinent operational issues/best practices and makes recommendations to the teams and to the Director and Medical Directors.

  • The Coordinator makes recommendations for standardization and performance improvement projects, and writes, reviews, and revises departmental policies and procedures.

  • The Coordinator demonstrates/teaches clinical knowledge and is the subject matter expert in the field of respiratory care.

  • The Coordinator assesses staff competency levels and provides feedback to management on employee job performance.

  • In addition, the Coordinator holds annual competency workshops to ensure staff remain clinically competent in departmental policy and procedures.

  • The Coordinator manages the preceptorship programs and sits on the advisory board for local the community colleges and participates in the training of respiratory therapy students from these colleges.

  • The Respiratory Care Education Coordinator provides leadership in coordination with the management team in the Director's absence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred.

Five years clinical experience as an RRT.

Minimum three years of acute/critical care.

Minimum of two years respiratory therapy clinical preceptor experience

Ability to educate diverse skill levels of clinical and nonclinical staff

Expertise, knowledge and application of adult learning principles.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

Certified by the State of California Respiratory Care Board as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).

Certified BLS, ACLS, and NRP PALS certification preferred (must attain PALS certification within one year of hire.)

Ages of Patients Served

May perform patient care to all age groups

Salary Range:

$61.20 - $91.80 USD Hourly
