Position Summary |
The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a fixed-term full-time physiatrist trained in spinal cord injury to join our expanding academic department. Faculty rank will be based on experience and qualifications. This position will require collaboration with the existing
SCI physician to further grow our specialty
SCI Rehabilitation program. This position will provide inpatient consultations and outpatient care for adults with
SCI. They will maintain a busy outpatient
SCI practice that includes spasticity management,
ITB pump management, and care for adult spina bifida patients. They will be developing a specialty consult service for
SCI patients with the goal being
SCI-specific care from acute admission through discharge from acute inpatient rehab. Faculty will also participate in teaching, research, and administrative activities associated with an academic appointment and related areas of expertise. The individual will participate in existing programs as well as help develop further interdisciplinary programs that would benefit wholistic healthcare for the
SCI population within the
UNC Healthcare system. The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R plus be subspecialty board eligible/certified in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
The successful candidate will be board eligible/board certified in PM&R plus be subspecialty board eligible/certified in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine. MD or DO with NC medical license or willingness to obtain state license. |

The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a record of interdisciplinary collaboration, and the desire to be involved in enhancing quality of patient care. |
