Internal Manufacturing Indianapolis is a function within Roche Diagnostics - Near Patient Care Operations, responsible for the strip manufacturing of the majority of our blood glucose monitoring portfolio for the global demand of our patients.

Role Purpose

As a Sr Process Improvement Engineer you will lead and facilitate continuous improvement programs within Internal Manufacturing - Indianapolis. This includes the training and coaching others on lean methodologies, as well as leading larger or more complex projects, as required. You will be a member of the Technical Excellence Leadership Team and report to the Head of Technical Excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads identification and implementation of key product and process improvement projects in alignment with organizational objectives.

  • Ensures area needs are represented and necessary deliverables are complete for new process and product developments.

  • Provides leadership on medium to large scope process improvement projects. Capable of setting direction and approach for these efforts.

  • Leads cross functional teams in accomplishment of organizational objectives. Ensures successful completion of deliverables through team.

  • Serves as a change advocate/leader for adoption of new and innovative improvement tools and methodologies. Coaches and teaches others on use and application.

  • Represents organization on new product and process development projects. Ensures manufacturing area requirements are identified and considered. May include soliciting, coordinating, and presenting feedback from multiple sources and functional areas.

  • Evaluates and assess feasibility of improvement ideas generated from manufacturing operations personnel, engineers, and others.

  • Responsible for maintaining and continuously improving the quality system and achieving quality objectives through daily actions.

  • Influences organizational priorities with respect to improvement efforts and projects.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate and influence others

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to manage conflict

  • Solid understanding of business needs and drivers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related discipline

  • 5 years of related experience, including experience successfully leading cross functional teams

  • Experience successfully managing medium to large scale improvement projects and in successfully interacting with all levels of the organization

Preferred

  • Knowledge and/or previous experience with the application of lean manufacturing methodologies preferred. Knowledge and experience with process characterization, root cause analysis and process capability tools (i.e. DOE, FMEA, Fishbone Diagrams, SPC).

  • Ability to analyze complex issues and formulate effective solutions

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Indianapolis, IN is $91,600 - $170,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
