Job Summary:

The Surplus With A Purpose (SWAP) program is a department within Purchasing Services and is located at the Verona Operations facility. SWAP activities include UW-Madison's Surplus Property Exchange and online auction platform.

Commonly known as SWAP, the department is a multi-faceted surplus property disposal operation serving all UW-Madison departments, UW System Schools, Municipalities, and State of Wisconsin agencies. Over 20 tons of surplus property are received weekly at our Verona Operations facility. Property is then listed and sold through our online auction, returned to other campus departments using the Surplus Exchange, or disposed of through appropriate channels.

The Inventory Control Coordinator at SWAP will support our mission to repurpose the University's surplus property through interdepartmental transfers, public sales, and donations. This position assists in managing SWAP's inventory of sold property, keeping our sales area clean and organized, receiving deliveries from UW departments and state agencies, and assisting customers with picking up their purchases. The successful applicant will possess skills in providing customer service, inventorying, and managing warehouse space.


Responsibilities:
Assesses stock supply and submits orders, verifies shipment receipt, and maintains shipping, receiving, and inventory records to ensure unit has appropriate inventory.

  • 10% Inspects and inventories received items and processes notifications to appropriate entities
  • 50% Shelves inventory and maintains organization
  • 20% Generates inventory reports to account for available stock and usage
  • 20% Serves as the first point of contact for individuals and groups using various communication mediums and routes more complex inquiries to the appropriate entities.

Qualifications:

Required:
- Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification
- Ability to walk/stand 6+ hours per day

Preferred:
- Experience working in a warehouse environment
- Experience working in a retail setting
- Customer service experience
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license


Work Schedule:

This position will work Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m at the Verona Operations location.


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
