Description

This opportunity to join the Department of Pediatrics at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons at the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scientist is an exciting one. Columbia University Irving Medical Center, one of the nation's foremost academic health science centers.

Job responsibilities during the appointment will consist of participation in research studies, which focuses on immune dysregulation in human diseases such as 1) Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), a post SARS-CoV-2 viral inflammatory syndrome of unknown genetic etiology. 2) Individuals with TBK1 who presents with increased susceptibility to autoimmunity; exact molecular mechanism underlying these immune defects has yet to be elucidated. Finally, diseases collectively termed 3) type I interferonopathies are driven by minute increases in the levels of IFN-I cytokines. The candidate will be investigating how IFN-Is contribute to diseases like MIS-C, TBK1, and bone fine type I Interferonopathies. Responsibilities during this time would include molecular, biochemical, and immunological characterization of IFN-I responsiveness and other inflammatory markers in these disease settings.

Postdocs will present at Journal Clubs, lab meetings, assist with manuscript and grant writing, and mentor graduate students. Participation in this role is solely for research. No element of patient care services will be involved and other activities related to the research program of Dr. Dusan Bogunovic.
