Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Tissue Services, Medical Examiner Outreach Liaison is responsible for establishing and maintaining working relationships with Medical Examiner-Coroner professionals in the Versiti Organ and Tissue service area to enhance and improve out of hospital referral sources.

Responsibilities

    Establishes contacts among Medical Examiner-Coroner agencies within the Versiti Organ and Tissue service area in order to increase referrals made by outside sources.
  • Provides training to agencies on proper referral practices
  • Development of agreements, policies and procedures with Medical Examiner-Coroner. agencies
  • Collaborates in planning and implementing strategies that support Medical Examiners-Coroners providing donation options for all families in a manner that assures the donation is an informed decision and occurs in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Serves as a resource for Medical Examiners-Coroners to provide follow up, notification of changes, determining needs and objectives to assure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide education, information and consultation to Medical Examiners and staff as needed to ensure that all aspects of the donation process are understood, supported, practiced and implemented
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships by providing a high level of customer service through timely communication, presence and visibility
  • Plans, designs and presents education/seminars for Medical Examiners-Coroners and other targeted groups.
  • Utilizes data to assist in planning for Medical Examiners-Coroners and in measuring their outcomes and success in reaching their goals.
  • Seeks to identify and implement improvements to the donation process.
  • Maintains database of contacts and information about preferred contact information.
  • Provides training and feedback to Versiti Organ and Tissue staff.
  • Shares data regarding technical and other issues raised by Medical Examiners that can be integrated into operational practices.
  • Reviews Versiti referral data to ensure timely and effective communication.
  • Submits routine development plans, including issues, goals, and strategies, and monthly activity report to the Manager of Tissue Services.
  • Serves at the discretion of Versiti management as the representative to professional groups. * Wisconsin Coroners and Medical Examiner's Association * National Associate of Medical Examiners * Other professional societies as identified and pertinent
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education

  • High School education or equivalent required
  • Associate's Degree in a related field preferred

Experience

  • 4-6 years Minimum of three years in healthcare or related field. required
  • Previous experience working with Medical Examiner-Coroner agencies preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use a personal computer, Microsoft Office, and the internet for data entry and retrieval of information. required
  • Strong attention to detail and ensures accuracy in completing paperwork. required
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task in challenging and stressful situations, and utilizing conflict resolution skills to provide a productive work flow. required
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, medications, disease processes and human anatomy. required
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and rapport-building skills including the ability to listen actively and respond with empathy, tact, and sensitivity. required
  • Ability to apply judgment and fact finding to solve problems. required
  • Takes a positive approach to working within a team and is flexible with others. required
