As part of our success, the Kellogg Executive Education programs include the Center for Nonprofit Management Open Enrollment programs which are a series of non-degree/non-credit professional development programs designed for the purpose of enhancing the leadership and management skills of people working in the nonprofit sector.

Reporting to the Director, Nonprofit Executive Programs, the Associate Director is responsible for the development, design and delivery of the Kellogg School of Management's Center for Nonprofit Management Open Enrollment programs. This role is primarily responsible for leading a team of faculty, program managers and other Executive Education professionals in the planning, development, execution and evaluation of Kellogg's nonprofit professional development programs. The position serves as an Academic Director for on-site, off-site, and live virtual open and custom nonprofit executive education programs, leading faculty, and program managers to execute outstanding academic programs.

Specific Responsibilities:

Program Development - Open Enrollment:

  • Determine goals, objectives, outcome measurements and metrics, financial feasibility, marketing strategies and collaboration opportunities with other internal and external organizations.
  • Oversee the ongoing development and refinement of the program's current and future curriculum and course offerings in consultation with subject matter experts, including feedback from the field.
  • Recruit, hire, and direct instructors for the programs including Kellogg and Northwestern faculty and nonprofit sector experts.
  • Oversee all aspects of faculty engagement ensuring optimal faculty support.
  • Provide leadership for planning, scheduling, delivering and maintaining executive education programs to sustain quality instruction in all educational activities.
  • Direct actions to consistently high-quality standards across all partner programs, including enrollment, teaching, service levels, and facilities.
  • Ensure that the program meets associated revenue & expense goals.
  • Develop and implement ideas for improving business processes and increasing program revenues and margins.
  • Plan & implement annual budget process.
  • Manage Academic Directors of Open Enrollment programs, providing support and guidance in curriculum design, marketing, and program delivery.
  • Document and share high-level themes and trends in the nonprofit sector (based on Open Enrollment participant feedback) for the Center for Nonprofit Management Team. Share feedback at Quarterly Team Meeting and facilitate team discussion with the purpose of helping the team better understand the needs of nonprofit executives as they design and deliver custom programs for the sector.
  • Design and deliver two new Open Enrollment programs in calendar year 2026 and consider adding one new program annually after calendar year 2026.
  • Design and deliver six webinars in each academic year to engage participant base and generate revenue.
  • Design and facilitate the Applied Learning Activities during the Open Enrollment Programs with the goal of deepening the learning for the participants.

Program Delivery - Open Enrollment:

  • Lead a team of faculty, coaches, Program Managers and other Executive Education administrators to identify, define and unify program designs and overall professional development architectures, including program scheduling.
  • Provide guidance to the faculty in the selection of cases and other program materials that are essential to a nonprofit executive education program.
  • Oversee program planning and architecture, including managing complex program designs, varied stakeholder interests and conflicting stakeholder priorities.
  • Oversee all aspects of program delivery, both onsite and offsite for Open Enrollment Programs.
  • Ensure program continuity and satisfactory customer experience through engagement with participants.
  • Communicate with Kellogg faculty for ongoing or midstream adjustments to program content
  • Support faculty preparation for program specific matters, such as participant profiles, learning priorities, and providing guidance for any necessary presentation modifications to adapt to a nonprofit audience
  • Gather and analyze program evaluations and feedback, including identifying methodologies for determining the ROI of professional development initiatives
  • Debrief and share feedback with faculty on programs to identify areas of potential improvement
  • Identifies modifications of content, format, and faculty to enhance future sessions.
  • Listen to participant feedback during and after each program with a willingness to be flexible and change the plan, if necessary.

Administration:

  • Direct and lead development of Open Enrollment Portfolio strategic plan.
  • Oversee & ensure that day-to-day operations are appropriately managed, efficient and effective.
  • Operationalize goals & objectives; ensure that resources are created or obtained.
  • Manage customer service; create associated practices & procedures & metrics to measure success.
  • Oversee data analysis & recommend & implement changes & improvements to better ensure attainment of mission of nonprofit open enrollment executive education.
  • Manage logistics requirements, including facilities, venue, scheduling, technology, instruction, catering, etc.
  • Oversee documentation of agreements between NU and partner institutions, ensuring that agreements are complete and reviewed by all necessary NU officials.
  • Participate in developing IT strategy to meet the mission & needs of program.

Communication, Outreach & Recruitment:

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to increase program profile, reputation, visibility and support.
  • In partnership with the Director, Nonprofit Executive Programs, create plan to drive both awareness of programs and enrollment in appropriate target markets.
  • Partner with academia and organizations to continue to innovate & enhance program.
  • Actively obtain market intelligence by monitoring program peers/competitors and sharing information with appropriate groups.
  • Build relationships with appropriate communities & organizations that will result in program enhancement.
  • Assists in marketing of new and current programs. Creates and manages Center for Nonprofit Management Master Email Calendar and adjusts email marketing strategy based on enrollment needs.
  • In partnership with the Assistant Director of Operations and the Director, Nonprofit Executive Programs, collaborate on social media strategy, helping to both create content and drive enrollment.
  • Track program enrollment numbers of the Open Enrollment programs on a weekly basis and add additional marketing tactics if needed and check abandoned applications on a weekly basis and follow up via email.

Evaluation:

  • Oversee development & implementation of evaluation processes, quantitative & qualitative measurements that ensure that program benchmarks are successfully attained and communicated in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Manage evaluation processes; recommend & implement changes for enhancement; monitor effectiveness through follow-up evaluation studies.
  • Assess programming and recommend changes that will innovate and invigorate program including cutting edge developments in the field and changes to better meet nonprofit sector needs in order to achieve goals.

Events:

  • Develop, plan & implement strategies, goals & approach for programs & events.
  • Oversee creation of events designed to implement program objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal/external partners to ensure that events are implemented and meet or exceed planned goals.

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, visionary program strategy designed to continually grow and improve the Open Enrollment portfolio and build internal/external engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff in the creation of program components.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, experience, and any other certifications or clearances)

  • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 5-7 years program administration or other relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)

  • 7 years of experience in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience in executive development or related field.
  • Familiarity with marketing, communications strategy and sales.

Preferred Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities)

  • Ability to distill complex academic information into consumer-friendly communications.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills, in particular the ability to write email copy for targeted marketing emails.
  • Experience with the following systems and technology: Canvas (or similar course management system), Cvent (or similar CRM), Chat GPT, SalesForce, Marketing Cloud, LinkedIn

Target hiring range for this position will be between $83,386.70 - $97,521.60 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
