Human Resources Business Partner

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Formulates partnerships to deliver value-added service to leadership and employees that reflect and align to the goals of the organization. Provides guidance and support to leadership on the Bryan Health coaching and corrective action philosophy. Helps manage employee recognition, provides training to leaders and consults on retention strategies to improve the overall employee experience.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Acts as a resource to leadership on the Bryan Health coaching and corrective action philosophy and process, to resolve complex employee relation issues and address grievances.

3. Designs and operationalizes employee recognition and retention programs for the Health System

4. *Analyzes and presents trends and metrics to leadership to develop solution-based recommendations for retention, engagement and other department and organizational goals.

5. *Ensures that policies and procedures related to employee relations are administered effectively and consistently.

6. *Ensures that all HR actions related to employee relations are consistent with all state and federal legal requirements.

7. Works to improve communication effectiveness with all departments and employees.

8. *Stays up-to-date on Employee Health Service functions including workers' compensation, FMLA use and short-term disability (STD).

9. Monitors HR processes for improvements in efficiency and consistency for the organization.

10. Identifies and presents training as neededfor leaders and/or staff.

11. Keeps senior leadership apprised of employee relations,retention issues or unionization risks.

12. Creates and implements effective health system onboarding plans

13. Stays up-to-date on changes in the HR profession and communicates those changes to internal customers.

14. *Continually develops legal, analytic and business acumen skills to successfully support the organization's needs.

15. Serves as a key ambassador for Human Resources within the organization, establishing strong relationships with leaders and employees.

16. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

17. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

18. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of human resource management laws, processes and principles.

2. Knowledge of EEO, FMLA, STD, worker's compensation and unemployment regulations and practices.

3. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

4. Skill in data analysis and ability to make recommendations based on desired metrics.

5. Skill in conflict diffusion and resolution.

6. Ability to contract with leaders to ensure alignment to department and organizational goals.

7. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.

8. Ability to prioritize work demands, take initiative and work with minimal supervision.

9. Ability to engage in problem-solving and problem-resolution activities despite emotional and confrontational situations.

10. Ability to evaluate employee situations, interpret regulations and policies and make decisions in accordance with established precedent or facility guidelines.

11. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

12. Ability to work with and provide exceptional service to a wide-range of customers having socio-economic, educational, cultural and racial differences and practices.

13. Ability to effectively build relationships with members of the Bryan Health management team.

14. Ability to work effectively on multi-disciplinary teams.

15. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field and a minimum of five (5) years experience in Human Resources with an emphasis in employee relations required. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

OR

Eight (8) years of related experience in HR leadership or business partner role may be accepted in lieu of a Bachelor's degree. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
