Responsibilities

Center for Change in Boise, Idaho is seeking a full-time (32-40 hr/wk) Lead Psych Tech to assist the clinical and nursing staff in providing safe and supportive treatment to patients suffering from eating disorders.

Schedule: The facility is open Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Working in our Partial Hospitalization Program is an excellent entry-level position for individuals who would like to gain more experience in the mental health field.

Responsibilities:
Psych Techs work closely with patients at the Center. They provide daily support and assistance with activities of daily living and are expected to mentor healthy attitudes and behaviors. Psych Techs eat meals with the patients and join them in a variety of experiential therapies such as recreation therapy, movement therapies such as Yoga, art groups, music therapy, and other group therapies such as body-image and 12-step. Psych Techs work directly with patients in goal setting and follow-up, and are responsible to enforce program rules.

The lead psych tech also assists with the following responsibilities:

  • Provide new Care Technicians with effective orientation and training
  • Identify Care Tech training needs; mentor, plan and implement appropriate training throughout the year
  • Monitor Care Technician performance; ensure they receive meaningful and timely feedback; provide assistance to facilitate performance improvement
  • Ensure Care Technician shifts are staffed and efficiently scheduled
  • Forecasts needs, and work effectively with the Direct Care Manager to ensure the Center is adequately staffed with quality Care Techs

Qualifications

BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION, PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS AND ENSURE YOU ARE QUALIFIED TO FILL THIS POSITION.

  • Two or more years college-level education, or 1 - 2 years' experience working in the mental health field.
  • Previous experience in the mental health field is preferred.
  • Due to the nature of treatment and the population served there is a bona fide occupational qualification the applicant be female.
  • Care Techs may be required to transport patients using company vehicles. To qualify to drive company vehicles Psych Techs must consent to a driving record check, and must:
    -- be at least 21 years of age;
    -- have a valid driver license;
    -- have no more than 2 at-fault accidents in the past three (3) years;
    -- have no more than 3 moving violations during the past three (3) years; and,
    -- have NO driving while intoxicated (DWI) or driving under the influence (DUI) convictions.
  • Because the Center specializes in the treatment of eating disorders it is important that staff model healthy attitudes and behaviors about food. For this reason direct care staff are required to eat with the patients and model an intuitive relationship with food. This includes dishing appropriate portions of everything served with the meal, eating a variety of foods until you are moderately full and treating all foods with the same moral value. You will be asked to eat all food groups: meats, poultry, fish, fruits, dairy products, desserts, etc.

Wage: Base starting wage is $21.00
