Sr Platform Engineer

At data.world, we're building the world's most intuitive and intelligent data catalog and governance platform. We're seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help develop software and implement cloud solutions for our development platform and production environment, with a focus on hardening and transitioning our offerings for Federal deployments.

All engineers at data.world are responsible for building secure applications, but we are looking for an engineer with experience specific to cloud engineering, deployment automation, cloud networking and information security. This person should be very self-driven and able to take ownership of large efforts. This role is a member of the development platform team and will also work closely with our Information Security team. At data.world you will:



  • Be part of the team developing the data.world cloud and automation infrastructure
  • Use a variety of technologies to support code delivery and production operations of a cloud hosted, service oriented web application
  • Build an environment in which engineering teams are able to build, test, and run their applications in production
  • Work with an agile software delivery team on new projects
  • Directly counsel / train other engineers on cloud technology and how to use our dev platform


Experience we'd love to see:



  • 3+ years cloud/DevOps/backend engineering
  • Software development, especially in Python, Java or golang
  • Infrastructure as Code, especially in Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Design of public cloud services, especially with Amazon Web Services
  • Use of metrics and logs to troubleshoot and resolve complicated problems
  • Documenting changes and instructive guides
  • Continuous integration (CI/CD) with multiple deployments each day
  • Containerization, configuration management, CI/CD and other "DevOps" tools


  • Passion for building highly secure and scalable apps
  • Experience running large scale cloud applications in multiple geographic regions
  • Experience with security frameworks such as NIST or FedRAMP is a huge plus
