DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1, you will complete routine, manual work in public institutional buildings and surrounding grounds. You will use custodial supplies, including modern cleaning equipment, and move or lift heavy furniture. You will perform general cleaning duties such as mopping, scrubbing, waxing, polishing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing. In addition, you will deep clean resident rooms, common areas, offices, nurse stations, kitchens, and bathrooms. It is important that your work follows well-established procedures and complies with cleanliness inspection standards. You will also shovel snow, clean debris from sidewalks, and dispose infectious waste into proper storage areas. This role requires a positive demeanor and a genuine desire to be productive while help others. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM (2nd shift), with a 30-minute lunch. You will work a rotating schedule and every other weekend.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Willingness to work in Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania
- Willingness to work a full-time schedule
- Willingness to work a 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM shift
- Experience as a custodian, janitor, or cleaning person (Experience might include such things as cleaning restrooms; cleaning resident rooms, offices or public areas; mopping, scrubbing, dusting, sweeping, and buffing)
- Work experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, or hospital
- Work experience interacting with patients or residents while cleaning in patient or resident rooms or a dining room setting
- Work experience with cleaning bodily fluids and disposing infectious waste into proper storage areas
- Work experience with removing snow, trash, and debris from sidewalks and entrance ways
- Work experience with using and mixing chemicals or solvents
- Work experience using manual or power equipment to mop, scrub, sweep, strip, wax, and buff floors
- Custodial work experience in the following environments: activity or recreation room; bathroom, shower, or bathing room; cafeteria or dining room setting; entranceway, lobby, or common space; nursing station; patient or resident rooms; pharmacy; physical therapy rooms
Legal Requirements:
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
- Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
