DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will engage in a diverse range of activities focused on the repair and upkeep of structures, bridges, equipment, and machinery, all aimed at ensuring the safety of the traveling public. The responsibilities associated with this position necessitate a journeyman level of expertise and skill across various trades, including carpentry, welding, masonry, electrical work, and plumbing. To prolong and enhance the lifespan of structures, the individual will undertake numerous tasks, which may include constructing concrete formwork, placing and finishing concrete, installing environmental controls, building temporary shoring, welding metal support structures and replacement components, as well as painting surfaces as directed by a supervisor. The incumbent will also be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of structures such as bridges, culverts, retaining walls, facilities, and other roadway infrastructures, utilizing a high level of proficiency in multiple trades. Additionally, the role involves operating a wide array of construction equipment necessary for these duties, including arc and MIG welders, pipe threaders, concrete saws, chainsaws, air compressors, hammer drills, jackhammers, chipping hammers, de-scalers, generators, pumps, carpentry tools, power tools, forklifts, personal lifting devices, bucket trucks, and various hand and pneumatic tools. Moreover, the position entails performing maintenance work related to the upkeep, repair, and remodeling of the District's office facilities. The individual will also conduct minor mechanical repairs and maintenance on equipment both in the field and at the county maintenance shed, ensuring that all equipment remains functional and safe for operation as intended. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Work schedule is subject to change during summer/winter seasons.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
- Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
