Cardiac Device Technician- VP Electrophys, Paramus

POSITION SUMMARY:

Seeking a skilled Cardiac Device Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for interrogating, programming, and troubleshooting Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED) such as pacemakers (PPMs), defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRTs) and loop recorders (ILRs). You will work closely with electrophysiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal device function and patient care.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform in-clinic and remote interrogations of pacemakers, ICDs, and other cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs).
  • Analyze and interpret device data to assess performance, battery life, and arrhythmia detection.
  • Educate patients and families on device management, precautions, and follow-up care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Additional monitoring duties may include telephone triage, reviewing medical history, recording vital signs, and the ability to communicate critical events or findings to physicians directly.
  • Troubleshoot remote monitor and device issues and take immediate steps toward resolution. Able to identify critical cardiac rhythms and rhythm EKG analysis with proficiency and evaluation for notification criteria and optimal settings for devices.
  • Schedule device interrogation appointments correctly based on global periods to support safe device follow up care.
  • Ensure all charges are entered accurately daily to include correct diagnoses codes.
  • Meet quality and performance standards.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree required unless a minimum of 3 years existing experience as a Device Technician. Successful completion of a Device Technician training course preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Current experience as a Device Technician or successful completion of training as a Device Technician required.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
Effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills. Ability to perform work accurately and pay attention to details, changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and changing working environment related to changing patient needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the Practice and with patients, family members, co-workers. Ability to utilize effective time management to set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use analytical and critical thinking skills to effectively problem-solve. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw interpret bar graphs. Demonstrates knowledge of Database software, Internet software and Word Processing software.
