Qualifications EDUCATION Minimum 1 year of patient care or ambulatory clinical support as PCT, MA, GI tech or equivalent experience. EXPERIENCE Minimum of one (1) year PCT/CNA experience and/or one year GI clinical support experience and/or Perioperative experience as a Surgical Tech or in Sterile Processing. LICENSURE Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS); Complete certification through the Certification Board of Sterile Processing and Distribution/GI Specialty within two years of employment. Complete a minimum of 10 CEUs related to GI yearly. SPECIAL SKILLS Excellent communications, interpersonal, coordinative, and organizational skills. Knowledge of Endoscopic room procedure and universal precautions. Excellent communication skills. Individual must be able to tolerate high stress areas of work. Ability to read, write, and perform basic math. All duties require some pushing, pulling, bending and standing. Must be able to read instructional materials and labels. Must be able to take and follow direction. Must be able to participate as member of the patient care team. Must be able to clean instruments/endoscopes, utilizing department aseptic techniques and following the Manufacturer IFUs. PHYSICAL DEMAND Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to perform tasks of physical endurance and dexterity as required. Consistent use of proper body mechanics. Requires mental alertness and ability to perform multiple tasks. Physically and emotionally able to work under stress, stand, walk, lift and carry. Requires standing for periods of time. Requires stamina to work in a fast paced environment. Must be physically able to push/pull objects more than 30lbs., lift trays or equipment weighing up to 30 lbs. Requires ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Working environment: Exposed regularly to some unpleasant working conditions. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens and other infectious material.
