Horizon BCBSNJ employees must live in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut or Delaware Job Summary: The Information Governance Associate will support the Office of Information Governance and Privacy in implementing and maintaining effective information governance policies and procedures. This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards. This position will also be responsible for contributing to efficiency of a division by performing various analytical, project and administrative functions. This position supports the establishment and ongoing operations of Information Governance within the Enterprise and is responsible for executing administrative functions, ensuring efficient operations of the Information Governance and Privacy Center of Excellence, and providing support to the Information Governance Council.
Responsibilities:
Partner in the development and implementation of information governance policies, procedures, and standards. Conduct regular audits and assessments to evaluate compliance with information governance policies and identify areas for improvement. Responsible for the management of records and information lifecycle, including classification, retention, and disposal. Lead the coordination of training programs, workshops, events, and awareness campaigns to educate employees about information governance best practices. Collaborate with IT, data governance and legal teams to ensure that information governance practices are integrated into technology solutions and legal compliance efforts. Serve as a point of contact for internal inquiries related to information governance and provide guidance and support as needed. Maintain documentation and records related to information governance activities, including policies, procedures, and audit reports. Assist in the development and maintenance of information/data maps and inventories to facilitate information/data management and compliance efforts. Stay informed about emerging trends and developments in information governance and recommend updates to organizational policies and procedures. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external inquiries related to information governance. Create and maintain accurate records, and documentation for the Information Governance Council activities, including policies, procedures, and training materials. Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment of information governance initiatives with organizational goals. Proactively work to resolve a broad range of administrative and project related inquiries and initiatives and keeps management current on all matters. Track, trend, and compile data to prepare reports and presentations for operational use and leadership review.

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor degree preferred or relevant experience in lieu of degree. Requires a minimum of three (3) years of privacy, information governance, or compliance experience in a health care environment or the health insurance industry. Requires a minimum of three years of experience in an information governance or a privacy compliance role.
Knowledge:
Requires in-depth knowledge of privacy, security, and information governance regulations, standards and commitments applicable to the health insurance industry. Requires proficiency in the use of personal computer and supporting software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
Skills and Abilities:
Requires strong communication and presentation skills. Can convey clear and concise ideas and facts orally and written. Requires the ability to research and resolve problems through interaction with companywide personnel. Excellent organization and an ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting priorities. Able to interpret regulations and effectively apply them to business processes. Data analysis. Attention to detail. Ethics and integrity. Requires the ability to work independently.
Salary Range: $69,500 - $93,030
This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
