The Low Voltage Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various low voltage systems that are critical to hospital operations. This includes equipment monitoring software/platforms such as TempTrak, TV channel systems like GetWell (hardware maintenance and repair), nurse call systems (hardware maintenance and repair), automatic doors, building automation systems (BAS), and supporting fire alarm technicians with integration tasks related to BAS, automatic doors, and HVAC systems.

Essential Functions

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

  • Installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs low voltage systems including, but not limited to:

    • Equipment Monitoring Software/Platforms: Install, monitor, maintain, and repair TempTrak systems to ensure accurate temperature tracking for hospital equipment and environments.

    • Television Channel System: Administer and support the hardware of the GetWell network, including maintenance and repair, to provide quality telehealth and patient education services through the TV channel system.

    • Nurse Call Systems: Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain both software and hardware of nurse call systems to ensure effective communication between patients and healthcare staff.

    • Automatic Door Systems: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair automatic door systems to ensure reliable access control and patient safety.

    • Building Automation Systems (BAS): Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of BAS to optimize the hospital's energy management and operational efficiency.

  • Supports HVAC and Fire Alarm Technicians with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm and HVAC components tied to the BAS including prompt response during emergencies.

  • Collects data capturing performance metrics from various low voltage systems to help troubleshoot fault detection and diagnostic opportunities. Identifies patterns and reviews data indicative of potential failures and optimizes maintenance schedules reducing the need for reactive repair.

  • Collaborates with facility management team and other departments, such as Digi-IS, to coordinate system upgrades and address system issues promptly.

  • Provides technical support to hospital staff, troubleshooting issues, and training users on new systems and best practices. Provide excellent service to hospital staff and be responsive to their needs, helping to maintain a positive and efficient working environment.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

Experience: Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

License/Certification: None Required

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification.

  • Knowledge of low voltage systems use in a health care setting such as TempTrak, GetWell, nursing call systems, automated doors, building automation, and fire alarm systems.

  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair (including component replacement) of various low voltage systems, ensuring they operate reliably and effectively.

  • Knowledge of healthcare industry standards and regulatory requirements related to electrical systems, safety, and building codes.

  • Ability to operate standard tools, instruments and equipment used on the job.

  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues within low voltage systems quickly, using analytical skills and technical knowledge

  • Ability to prioritize repairs, manage emergencies, and perform maintenance efficiently.

  • Ability to apply innovative solutions to improve system performance, enhance reliability, and incorporate new technologies while minimizing disruption.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with hospital staff, explain technical information clearly, and document maintenance tasks

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work well with individuals at all levels of the organization such as others in facility management, nursing/clinical staff, and Digi-IS.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.

Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $115,460.80 to $130,904.80
