Job Description

Kearney & Company is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to join our Personnel Security (PERSEC) office. As an integral part of our security team, the AFSO will support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in managing and maintaining the company's security program, ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies. This position description is intended to provide a general overview of the requirements and responsibilities of the AFSO role. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the position.

  • Assist the FSO in seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) to join our Personnel Security (PERSEC) office. As an integral part of our security team, the AFSO will support the Facility Security Officer (FSO) in managing and maintaining the company's security program, ensuring compliance with all applicable government regulations and company policies.implementing and maintaining the facility security program in compliance with NISPOM (National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual), DoD regulations, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Manage the processing and monitoring of security clearances, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to security policies.
  • Conduct security awareness, training, and education programs for employees to ensure understanding and compliance with security protocols.
  • Oversee the access control system, including issuance and management of badges, maintaining access logs, and ensuring that physical security measures are followed.
  • Support the development and implementation of the Insider Threat Program, including training, reporting, and incident response.
  • Assist in the preparation for and conduct of security audits and inspections by government agencies and customers.
  • Manage the control, storage, and dissemination of classified and sensitive information, ensuring compliance with security regulations.
  • Report and investigate security incidents and violations, taking appropriate corrective actions and maintaining detailed records.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of security policies, procedures, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university
  • Minimum 2 years of experience
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of NISPOM and other relevant security regulations.
  • Familiarity with the Defense Information System for Security (DISS) and the National Background Investigation Services (NBIS).
  • Knowledge of U.S. Government compliance standards regarding foreign travel for security clearance holders.
  • Understanding of Security Executive Agent Directive (SEAD) 3 and SEAD 4.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using security management software and systems.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

  • Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.

The expected salary range for this position is between $75,000 and $90,000. This range is representative of base pay only and does not include straight time pay for hours worked over 40 per week, company contributions towards paid benefits, and/or bonuses. Actual compensation (meeting or exceeding the range) will be determined based on specific experience, education, work location, clearance level, and other factors permitted by law. This position is eligible for bonuses (when applicable).
