Primary Purpose This position supports the Sempra Infrastructure Asset Supply Optimization entities. Responsibilities include month-end close activities like posting of journal entries, allocations, account reconciliations, variance analysis, commodity analysis and financial reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform the month-end close process including journal entries, allocations and account reconciliations for assigned Sempra Infrastructure entities.
- Perform variance analysis, commodity analysis and financial reporting.
- Interact with other internal departments to provide accounting support and guidance.
- Initiate action to improve and/or change processes. Implement and support innovative and automated accounting reporting tools and processes.
- Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+years professional accounting experience.
- Must have strong financial accounting and reporting knowledge and skills
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Knowledge of commodities, settlements and derivatives
- Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to details
- Ability to identify issues, analyze data, develop, recommend and implement solutions
- Ability to process transactions in a timely and accurate manner
- Ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Must have the ability to work independently and with moderate guidance from management
Must possess initiative, strong decision-making skills and problem-solving abilities - Must be willing to put forth additional effort and work extra hours when critical tasks arise
- Must be flexible and able to switch quickly from one task to another when dictated by business needs
- Effectively interact and communicate with others
- Must have a positive and can-do attitude
Preferred Qualifications
