Job Description

The Department of Physics & Astronomy in the College of Arts & Science is hiring an Office Support Assistant IV to support the Department and provide support to the department chair. In this job, you will have the opportunity to coordinate events, support the faculty recruiting process, and assist faculty with transitioning to campus. You will work collaboratively and creatively with a team of staff. The Department of Physics and Astronomy tackles a wide range of cutting-edge research topics including the physics and chemistry of comets, galaxy formation and astrophysics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chair with projects and event calendars
  • Communicate with faculty to properly document their Promotion and Tenure (P & T) submissions
  • Manage and coordinate travel arrangements such as booking and purchasing flights, reserving car rentals, hotels, and conference registrations
  • Schedule and coordinate virtual and in-person meetings for alumni and faculty
  • Serve as a resource for departments
  • Perform additional administrative duties to support the Physics and Astronomy departments

This position is located in the Physics and Astronomy Building.

Shift

The shift is generally Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm with some flexibility of start and end time.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $16.00 to $19.92 hourly

Grade: GGS - 006
