Job Purpose

Uses analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge to work with purchasing and spec control in the creation of 6 budget events per year. Use professional accounting standards to ensure appropriate reporting of actual financial data and use analytical skills to provide detailed budget to actual analysis. The Sr Cost Accountant II for CBU is responsible for calculating the total cost of parts, labor and overhead included in a finished product and calculating the price that the product will be sold to AHM. In addition to these responsibilities, the Sr Cost Accountant II has some responsibility for reviewing the work of other associates and ensuring consistent application of policies and practices for all models in NA. This role requires more years of experience and often has some supervisory responsibilities. This role also has a great deal of autonomy in decision making and use of professional judgement.

Key Accountabilities

  • Reviewing monthly closing activities related to sales and materials and advising on improvements and presenting results to senior management.
  • Reviewing and directing sales and materials analysis for all NA models for six budget events each year and presenting results to senior management.
  • Use analytical skills and professional accounting knowledge to review sales breakdowns and profit analysis for all NA models ensuring consistency. Advising and directing activities of other sales and materials associates in these calculations.
  • Reviewing parts pricing quotes for consistency and advising on improvement activities
  • Reviewing Analysis of material usage and sales price variances for all NA models for consistency.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree with major in accounting or finance
  • 5+ years
  • Basic Accounting principles- GAAP/IFRS and Cost accounting background.
  • Strong understanding of accounting functions, terminology and ability to apply accounting concepts.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of Honda's accounting processes, preferably some Financial analyst experience
  • Strong Microsoft product skills (Excel, Powerpoint, etc)
  • SAP Knowledge and skills
