ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST

Ever-Green Energy is looking for a team member to perform general accounts payable duties in a multi-company environment, following prescribed procedures and accounting practices.

Minimum requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Two-year Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 - 3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience, including familiarity with financial statements and accounts payable best practices.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with customers and employees of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Preferred requirements:

  • Experience with General Ledger software such as Microsoft Dynamics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

  1. Match invoices to purchase orders working with accounting staff or purchaser to reconcile discrepancies.
  2. Enter invoices into accounts payable computer system, ensuring internal control procedures are being followed, verifying manager approvals and dollar-limit approvals.
  3. Monitor invoices in system for timely processing. Reach out to employees if invoices are not moving through the approval process.
  4. Batching invoices for payment.
  5. Set up new vendors in system, request W-9 from vendors if not provided.
  6. Assist with management of the company credit card program, ensuring employees are completing expense reports for monthly credit card purchases.
  7. Process employee expense reports for reimbursement.
  8. Prepare sales/use tax filings.
  9. Review open purchase orders in system and follow up with departments to close out open purchase orders that are completed.
  10. Reconcile general ledger accounts payable balance to AP subledger and resolve any discrepancies.
  11. Follow up on vendor/staff inquiries.

Other Duties:

  1. Assist with entering customer payments into utility billing system.
  2. Assist with mailing utility customer invoices.
  3. Assist with general ledger account reconciliations.
  4. File and maintain clerical records and reports.

This position will be on-site and located at Ever-Green Energy Corporate Headquarters in St. Paul and University of Minnesota Main Energy Plant in Minneapolis.

The employee frequently is required to utilize the fine manipulation of picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in gross manipulation; and hearing requirements with the ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds.

The employee is occasionally required to do the following; climbing ramps/stairs; crouching; far visual acuity at 20 feet or more; gross manipulation by seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hands; kneeling; lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.; peripheral vision of observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point; pushing; pulling; reaching at/below shoulder level by extending hands and arms from 0 up to 150 degrees in a vertical arc; reaching overhead by extending hands and arms in a 150 to 180 degrees vertical arc; and stooping.

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.

The hourly range for this position is: $22.00 to $29.00

This range reflects the base salary for this position.
