Job Summary

The Manager, Sales Planning & Strategy is responsible for leading the sales performance process, driving sales strategy, and optimizing territory management in the telecommunications industry. This role involves collaborating with senior leadership to develop sales forecasts, setting sales targets, analyzing performance data, and ensuring alignment between sales plans and business objectives. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, with strong strategic thinking skills and a deep understanding of the telecommunications market.

Responsibilities

Sales Planning and Forecasting

  • Collaborate with sales leadership and finance to develop accurate sales forecasts and budgets that align with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor sales performance against targets and provide regular updates and insights to senior leadership.

Territory Management

  • Develop and implement territory management strategies that optimize resource allocation and maximize market penetration.
  • Analyze territory performance and adjust strategies to ensure balanced workloads and effective coverage of key markets.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to assign territories and ensure that sales reps have the support they need to succeed in their designated areas.

Sales Strategy Development

  • Work closely with senior leadership to design and implement sales strategies that align with the company's business goals and market opportunities.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to inform sales strategies and identify growth opportunities.
  • Develop and communicate clear sales strategies and objectives to the sales team, ensuring alignment and buy-in across the organization.

Strategic Sales Analysis

  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.
  • Conduct competitive analysis to inform sales strategies and ensure the company remains competitive in the telecommunications market.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to sales leadership to optimize sales strategies and improve performance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product management, marketing, finance, and other departments to ensure alignment between sales plans and broader business strategies.
  • Collaborate with the sales operations team to ensure that sales processes, tools, and systems support the execution of sales plans.
  • Act as a liaison between sales leadership and other departments to ensure smooth communication and collaboration.

Sales Performance Management

  • Develop and implement performance management processes to track and evaluate the effectiveness of sales strategies.
  • Partner with sales leadership to identify areas where performance improvements are needed and develop action plans to address gaps.
  • Provide coaching and support to sales managers to ensure that sales teams meet or exceed their targets.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay informed about telecommunications industry trends, sales best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine sales planning processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for innovation and improvement in sales planning and strategy.
Qualifications

Experience

  • 5-7 years of experience in sales planning, sales operations, or a related role in the telecommunications industry.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful sales plans and strategies.
  • Strong experience with sales forecasting, data analysis, and territory management.

Skills

  • Deep understanding of telecommunications products, services, and market dynamics.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems, sales planning tools, and data analysis software.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Manage a team of Sales Operations Performance Specialists to ensure optimal performance and achievement of sales targets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving large-scale initiatives.
  • Familiarity with financial modeling and budgeting processes.
