Job Description: Identify, investigate, and resolve database performance issues, database capacity, and database scalability. Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems to advise customers. Consult with customers on the best way to utilize MongoDB product suite to achieve their goals.  Assist our pre-sales architects and consulting teams as a technical escalation point for issues that go beyond their expertise. Offer Linux operating system, networking and security expertise to customers and other internal employees in their efforts to implement, deploy, and maintain MongoDB software. Act as a point of escalation for sensitive cases. Train more junior engineers as needed. Read and interpret our product code as well as customer code snippets to identify issues impacting them. Must appear in office 3 days per week. Working from home acceptable 2 days per week.

 

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Systems Administration, or related field and five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in Information Technology (software development, system administration, site reliability engineering) or in the job offered or related role.

 

Experience and/or education must include:   

  1. Database query, deployment, and maintenance;

  2. Advanced Linux/Unix or Windows server administration (including performance tuning, memory management, I/Otuning, configuration, security, local networking, and troubleshooting);

  3. Virtualization and Containerization;

  4. Writing and reading code in two or more of the following programming languages: Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, node.js, Go;

  5. Holistic troubleshooting and diagnosing skills across multiple products;

  6. Networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS); and

  7. Broad awareness of customer workloads and use cases, including performance, availability, and scalability.
