ASU RN Team Lead - 40-hour Full-Time

**Sign on Bonus $5000**

Location: ASU (Providence)

The Acute Stabilization Unit (ASU) is searching for enthusiastic team members who are looking to make a positive impact in the Rhode Island community! The ASU provides is a 16-bed, voluntary outpatient program for those clients needing detox, referral to next steps of SUD treatment, and/or medication stabilization.

The role of the RN Team Lead is to provide direct and group supervision, collaborate with medical and other lead team members, improve and implement policies, and, where needed, be backup for direct care of clients.

Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Provide supervision to a full team of full-time and part-time registered nurses.
  • Engage RNs in orientation and ongoing training.
  • Provide clinical on-call coverage to the program.
  • Support the nurses to fulfill the following tasks:

o Engage in screening and risk assessment processes to identify appropriate levels of care and crisis interventions.

o Assess and monitor the psychiatric and medical needs of clients referred to the BH Link.

o Provide assessment and crisis intervention to clients experiencing behavioral health issues.

o Administer medication per standing and/or prescriber orders.

o Complete documentation per ASU protocols.

o Coordinate admissions with referral sources and engage in nurse-to-nurse communications.

o Administer detoxification protocols, include the administration of CIWA and COW scales.

o Perform medication reconciliation reviews of medical record (MD order sheets match up with MAR).

o Coordinate service delivery with daytime and on-call psychiatric prescribers.

o Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams both within and outside of the BH Link program.

o Ordering medications from local pharmacies per program protocols.

o Follow all PPE and COVID-19 safety guidelines.

o Secure and maintain QMHP credentials within the first quarter of employment (provided free of charge by CCA).


  • Provide other administrative program support as needed/appropriate.

  • Empathic and client-centered in approach.
  • Able to model and provide effective education relative to medical/clinical skills and crisis practices.
  • Able to quickly and effectively develop positive rapport with clients and other professionals.
  • Ability to assess medical and psychiatric needs of all clients admitted to the BH Link.
  • Excellent clinical documentation skills.
  • Able to apply learned verbal de-escalation techniques with clients in crisis.
  • Works well in a team setting and communicates effectively with other professionals.
  • Proactive and engaged when working with clients and co-workers.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Multilingual professionals are encouraged to apply (and are reimbursed accordingly).


Experience and Education:


  • RN required
  • Current license to practice in Rhode Island.
  • Experience and interest in serving clients with psychiatric and/or substance disorders.
  • 3 years' experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous experience in supervisory role preferred.
  • QMHP training provided/required within the first quarter of onboarding.
