Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Foundation Controller, this position performs complex accounting functions with a high degree of accuracy, accountability, and confidentiality. The incumbent is responsible for Foundation gift and endowment accounting, and assists the Controller in the corporate month, quarter, and year-end close and the annual financial audit. The incumbent reconciles Foundation gifts deposits, approvals, and disbursements each month and research unreconciled items weekly to ensure month-end deadlines are met. This position performs general ledger cash fund balance analysis on all accounting software systems for endowment, current use, and FFE funds, identifying the reasons for reconciling items. Utilizing multiple accounting software systems, this position effectively analyzes and records Foundation activity and transactions. The incumbent is responsible for establishing new Foundation funds including adding new funds to the accounting systems, reviewing documentation, and assuring that new funds are in compliance with Foundation rules and donor intent, working with multiple departments on campus to obtain account information, and maintaining all new fund documentation.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in general accounting responsibilities, including journal entry preparation, compiling data, researching, resolving, and reconciling items.
  • Experience working in an environment maintaining confidentiality and working with sensitive information including personnel matters.
  • Demonstrated significant knowledge of accounting principles and language and experience with complex data reconciliation.
  • Demonstrated communication skills to effectively describe and explain accounting and accounts reconciliation issues, applicable laws, and UC policy and processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Oracle financial software.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience using AggieEnterprise.
  • Awareness, knowledge, and skill in applying diversity, equity and inclusion to one's work. A profound belief in the value of a diverse and safe workforce and a commitment to achieve this goal through collaboration and team building, working cooperatively with a diverse group of department and campus constituencies.
