Role and Responsibilities:


The Cashier will be responsible for efficiently processing financial transactions while providing exceptional customer service. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth and accurate transactions, contributing to a positive customer experience.



  • Collaborate with a team primarily composed of individuals with disabilities and/or disabling conditions.

  • Provide friendly, efficient, and accurate checkout services using computerized cash register systems, including handling and counting money.

  • Assist in keeping the checkout area clean and organized by dusting and tidying up.

  • Weigh, scan, and bag customer orders efficiently.

  • Resolve service and product-related customer inquiries with professionalism.

  • Ensure the security of cash, receipts, and tickets.

  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain consistent attendance for all scheduled shifts.

  • Perform custodial duties as needed, such as vacuuming, mopping, and sanitizing restroom fixtures.

  • Complete other duties and assignments as directed.


Requirements:



  • No experience, No Problem!

  • Minimum of one (1) year of cashier experience (Preferred)


Preferred Skills:



  • Time management skills for handling fast-paced environments.

  • Attention to detail.

  • Organizational skills to maintain an efficient workstation.

  • Collaboration and communication skills to work effectively in a team.


Physical Demands:



  • Cashiers are often required to stand for extended periods during their shifts, which can last several hours.

  • The role involves frequent actions like scanning items, handling cash, operating the register, and bagging goods, which can be repetitive.

  • Cashiers may need to lift and move items, especially during busy periods when customers have large orders. The weight of items can vary from light to moderately heavy (e.g., groceries or boxes).

  • A high level of manual dexterity is needed to operate cash registers, scanners, and credit card machines. Cashiers must also handle money, coins, and various forms of payment.

  • Depending on the layout of the store, cashiers may need to reach for items on shelves or lift small objects or bags.

  • In some instances, cashiers may need to bend or squat to retrieve items, adjust displays, or organize supplies.


Environmental Demands:



  • Cashiers often work in fast-paced, noisy environments, especially in stores with high foot traffic. The sound of registers, customers, and other employees can be loud.

  • Depending on the type of establishment (e.g., grocery store, retail), cashiers may be exposed to temperature fluctuations, such as working near refrigerated areas or entrances with drafts.

  • Cashiers typically work under bright fluorescent lighting, which can cause eye strain over extended periods.

  • Cashiers may work in crowded areas, especially during peak shopping times. This can involve close interactions with customers and navigating through tight spaces behind the register.

  • Depending on store protocols, cashiers might be exposed to cleaning chemicals or disinfectants used to maintain hygiene in the work area.
