SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the strategic planning, development, and digital implementation of AMPP's Educational products. The responsibility includes the development of fresh and relevant content and delivery mechanisms, ensuring learning products are coordinated with current and future global delivery needs towards the achievement of organizational net revenue goals, and the coordinated growth and delivery of Educational products across the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Leads Educational product development, strategy, and redesign, from concept through development to market launch.
  • Serve as a principal driver in shifting existing Educational product development practices from knowledge-management principles to those more closely aligned to user experience principles and practices.
  • Develops Educational products by reviewing available market research and information about customers' needs and desires, generating product requirements and determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction in collaboration with Sales and Advertising teams.
  • Evaluate, leverage and integrate technology as well as best practices in adult learning and pedagogy, instructional design, content writing, quality assurance, and product lifecycle management to ensure that AMPP's Education portfolio is aligning to AMPP's Strategic Goals.
  • Collaborate with Product Portfolio Managers to identify and provide timely scoping of product development work so that it is planned, designed and implemented in a synchronized and coordinated fashion that corresponds with the speed of the business and is responsive and specific to specific customers' needs.
  • Design and develop a sustainable Subject-Matter-Expert-driven system and approach to Educational product development.
  • Design and implement a system for monitoring and distributing workloads of AMPP development staff and respective third party solution providers, utilizing workload management principles to track and balance assignments, as well as real-time capacity to deliver against the overall portfolio of work.
  • Establish and maintain required overflow capacity and resources, while developing and maintaining relationships with suppliers and service providers that account for ongoing management of performance, as well as implementation of AMPP intellectual property protection and cost control mechanisms.
  • Represent Educational Product Development on cross-functional Marketing and Sales Enablement team, providing guidance around the ways in which new products align to AMPP branding and sales objectives.
  • Coordinate and communicate regularly with members, industry subject matter experts, and staff with a focus to ensure timely development and sunsetting of education products so that the AMPP portfolio meets current, emerging, and future industry and market needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other learning association bodies and professionals to enhance AMPP's competitive position, including keeping AMPP governance, policies, and procedures current with best practices and in compliance with IACET and ISO requirements.
  • Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of AMPP staff, members, and customers to ensure a positive brand image, teamwork, alignment, and attainment of AMPP's organizational goals.
  • Hire, develop, coach, and inspire talent to effectively lead and manage to maintain solid succession planning and ensure attainment of goals and in alignment with AMPP culture and core values.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Some travel is expected for this role (less than 25%) and passport may be required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



  • 4-year college degree in Technology Management, Business Management, Product Development, and/or a related subject.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in Educational Product Development and/or User Experience Design/Development.
  • Demonstrated experience with Reusable Learning Objects and XML-based content development.
  • Related work experience creating Educational Products and Services specific to the heavy industrial market.
  • Related work experience particularly in a commercial, customer-facing Educational Product Development capacity.



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, members, employees of the organization, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret business graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Must possess a specific level of communication skill both verbal and written. Have demonstrated personnel management skills including, but not limited to, the ability to evaluate staff performance and provide direction, is highly desirable. Ability to work in a multitask environment taking into account various external factors and to communicate efficiently and accurately to both managers/supervisors and subordinate staff. Must be computer literate with knowledge and experience in word processing and spreadsheet softwares. Ability to learn and use association specific software. Demonstrated familiarity with Educational Product Development principles in a heavy industrial market, including but not limited to Product Prototyping, Product Development Management (Stage Gate) processes, Instructional Design, User Experience, and Adult Learning principles. Strong foundation with advanced learning technology and infrastructure: Reusable Learning Objects and XML-based content development via Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS), Learning Management Systems (LMS), Learning Experience Platforms (LXP), and associated learning reporting and analytics.
