Reconstructive Surgeon

Position Summary:

The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Children's National Hospital is seeking a full-time dual-boarded oral surgeon and plastic surgeon or a surgeon with a minimum of 6 to 8 years of progressive experience in orthognathic surgery. In addition to providing expert patient care, the division places a high priority on the training and development of medical trainees and on improving care through research. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical credentials, a collaborative approach to patient care, and a commitment to teaching.

We are a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma center and hold Level 1 Pediatric Surgery Verification from the American College of Surgeons. • Board Certified in Oral Surgery and Board Certified in Plastic Surgery or
• Board Certified in Plastic Surgery with 6 to 8 years of orthognathic surgery experience.

Children's National Hospital is seeking a full-time board-certified/board-eligible plastic surgeon to join the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. In addition to providing expert patient care, the division places a high priority on the training and development of medical trainees and on improving care through research. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical credentials, a collaborative approach to patient care, and a commitment to teaching.

The Board Certified/Board Eligible Plastic Surgeon in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery will provide expert surgical care for pediatric patients in both hospital and clinic settings. In addition to clinical duties, the surgeon will participate in research to advance surgical techniques and improve patient outcomes. The role also involves educating medical students, residents, and fellows, while supporting the academic development of the division.

Minimum Education

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school

Required Licenses

• Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children's National Hospital

Required Certifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
• Board Certified in Pediatrics (preferred)

• Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise.
• Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.

• Provide oversight of the medical care team and manage direct patient care for a specified patient population; improve continuity of care, customer service and partnerships with community medical providers through timely completion of records and communication.
• Provide on-call services as determined by the division leadership.
• Actively participate in family centered care and communicate in a professional and compassionate manner; refer patients to specialists and to relevant ancillary services as appropriate.
