Job Summary: This position will be responsible for daily operations in the assigned unit, including troubleshooting and resolving operations issues. Participation on the Fire Brigade/ Emergency Response Team is required. Operator Technicians are expected to know/learn the mechanical workings of pumps, piping systems, and operating requirements for distillation columns.
Job Duties and Roles:
- Responsible for daily operations in the assigned unit, including troubleshooting and resolving operations issues.
- Proactively executes the daily operating plan in a safe manner, in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Conducts operating rounds on equipment.
- Adjusts temperatures, pressures, and flows as required.
- Shutdown and startup of equipment as required to meet production goals and assignments. Trained in unit startup and shutdown and Emergency Procedures.
- Lines up and makes product transfers.
- Lubricates equipment.
- Works rotating shift.
- Documents shift turnover for his/her job position.
- Troubleshoots to solve or avoid problems.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Required to be PIC (Person in charge) of the facility
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria as a minimum requirement for the position:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years operator, maintenance craft or environmental tech experience in a petrochemical manufacturing facility.
- An Associate Degree in Process Technology or Process Technology Certification
- Military Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years minimum experience in plant operations
- Must work 9 hour rotating shifts
- Must be able to work overtime
- Troubleshooting
- Demonstrated application of safe work practices
- Communication skills adequate to effectively participate as a member of the team, conduct thorough shift relief, and exchange information, instruction and ideas within the work group and with cross-functional groups
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply knowledge of work processes, policies and procedures to ensure safe, reliable, optimized operation
- Basic computer skills needed to perform job tasks

Physical Demand:
- The ability to perform the following activities for 3-4 hours at a time: stand and walk, climb stairs and ladders, lift at least 50 pounds and open/close valves up to 16 inches.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and are expected to complete Emergency Response Team Training.
