As a Field Case Manager, you will work closely with treating physicians/providers, employers, customers, legal representatives, and the injured/disabled person to create and implement a treatment plan that returns the injured/disabled person back to work appropriately, ensure appropriate and cost-effective healthcare services, achievement of maximum medical recovery and return to an optimal level of work and functioning. This is an onsite case management position at the Walmart Distribution Center in Sparks, NV. Monday - Friday from 9am-5pm.

The main purpose of the role is to serve as a liaison between the distribution center Human Resource Manager, the Claims Administrator, the injured Associate and the local healthcare providers. The onsite CM also serves as an advocate for injured Associates. The goal is to reduce and/or minimize the impact of work related injuries through coordination with the injured Associates, plant management and local providers.

  • In this role, the onsite case manager will also monitor the transitional work program at the work-site for compliance with physician restrictions and assist in progressing the injured Associate through the restrictions to return to full/regular duty.
  • To work with management in the on-going educational efforts to provide a safe work environment for all distribution center Associates; thereby decreasing the number of injuries in the workplace.
  • To review current medical treatment modalities on the open files with the Claims Administrator and to provide medical recommendations based on nationally recognized treatment guidelines to providers, injured Associates, plant supervisor and managers, that would help bring those files to closure.
  • To assist providers, injured Associates and plant supervisors and manager to facilitate a safe and rapid RTW.
  • To provide follow-up for those injured Associates, returned to duty, post injury.
  • Keep a log that would assist in keeping track of injured Associates in the transitional duty program.
  • Tour the facility daily during different times of the day to interact with Associates working different shifts. Interact with the Associates during the tour and provide tips as to proper lifting and body mechanics to prevent injury as needed.
  • Be familiar with the functional requirements of the available positions within the different departments of the DC, such as Shipping, Receiving, Breakpack, etc. Obtain the job descriptions from the "Wire" for future reference when discussing return to work with a medical provider. Give the medical provider a copy of the injured Associate's Job Description (this can be obtained from Personnel as well).
  • Meet with and develop a working relationship with the medical providers most frequently utilized within your community and educate these providers as to the Temporary Alternate Duty program and the benefits of safe and early return to work.


Qualifications

  • Education: Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years clinical practice preferred. Workers' compensation-related experience preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to advocate recommendations effectively with physicians/providers, employers, and customers. Ability to work independently. Knowledge of basic computer skills including Excel, Word, and Outlook Email. Proficient grammar, sentence structure, and written communication skills.
  • Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license required. Must be in good standing.
    • URAC-recognized certification in case management (CCM, CDMS, CRC, CRRN or COHN, COHN-S, RN-BC, ACM, CMAC, CMC).
    • Valid driver's license and auto insurance required.
  • Travel: Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to and attend in-person appointments with injured workers in assigned geography.
  • Internet: Must have reliable internet.
