Position Description Summary:
The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at The George Washington University ( GWU) invites applications for a 12-month, full-time clinical faculty position (assistant professor, specialized, non-tenure track) to serve as Co-Director of the Meltzer Center: Psychological and Community-Based Services, the training clinic for graduate students in our APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program. Our Clinical program embraces a community psychology orientation that emphasizes the health and well-being of individuals and communities, values community engagement, and prioritizes social justice. The Meltzer Center espouses these same values in its service delivery and provides a wide variety of low-cost mental health services to adults, children, families, and couples in the Washington, D.C. area. A commitment to diversity is an integral part of our program, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds. The applicant would join a diverse faculty whose research and applied work aims to decrease health inequities and to promote well-being through theory-based and evidence-informed strategies. The position begins as early as Spring 2025.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities of the Co-Director include working with the Director of Clinical Training and current Director of the Meltzer Center to oversee the clinic operations, and working with our doctoral students and faculty in the following capacities: a) clinical supervision (assessment and intervention); b) teaching and training activities; c) development of clinic programs; and d) administrative responsibilities required for running the Meltzer Center. Opportunities for community engagement, research collaborations, direct clinical practice, and undergraduate teaching are available and encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA or PCSAS accredited program, including completion of an APA accredited clinical internship or the equivalent. Applicants must be licensed in Washington, D.C. or have an active license with eligibility for D.C. licensure within six months of hire. Experience in using evidence-based interventions and conducting cognitive assessments is required. Experience with teaching/mentoring, clinical training, program development, and/or clinical administration is required. Prior experience in supervision with diverse populations is required.
Advertised Salary: $98,000-$108,000, commensurate with experience.
