Description
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Communication Specialist to work in our Specific Manufacturing Cap Department. Our team works a 4x10's schedule located out of our (Idaho Falls facility with every Friday off. You will report to the Department Manager. Develop written and visual content for SMC communications to customers (e.g. internal and external), and employees related to strategic plans, our performance, and process improvement. Communicate directly with SMC SLT on coordination of performance/program reviews content. Support customer-focused program reviews hosted at SMC. Help develop, prove-out, and implement operation of SMC Management Information Center (e.g. MIC). Apply imaginative and creative ideas and design work to support professional quality content for communication. Responsibilities Include: Develop and oversee the creation of internal and external communication efforts or products. Consult on standard methodologies for sharing our successes to help its experts create and tailor their messages to effectively reach target audiences. Prepare messaging for target audiences, choose effective communications channels, and refine messages to optimize performance. Ensure understanding of INL and Department of Energy expectations regarding branding, messaging, awareness, and approvals. Create feature stories and news releases, an array of informational products (e.g., website(s) and web content, newsletters, social media, videos, fact sheets, annual reports, special reports, images, topical PowerPoint presentations, FAQs, and talking points) Maintain digital content calendar, and schedule posts for social media and INL website. Partner with subject matter experts to develop comprehensive reports for the public, industry, and critical partners. Ensure technical documents follow appropriate style (i.e., APA). Provide specialized training to employees on developing appropriate messaging to various audiences. Counsel the senior leadership team on all matters concerning public engagement, crisis communication, and government affairs. Develop working relationships with public affairs counterparts across the laboratory, customer agencies, private industry, academia, and state, regional, and federal elected officials. Mentor and coordinate junior staff, and collaborate with additional resources. Other tasks as assigned Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or relevant field. You are required to have a Bachelor's and 5 years of experience. Master's and 2 years of experience. Ph. D and 2 years of experience. Experience in writing skills, familiarity with AP Style, and excellent oral, digital, and social media. Depending on work location, qualify as a Radiological Worker I to gain unescorted access to most of the Nuclear and Radiological facilities. Depending on work location, qualify for and maintain a position within the INL's Emergency Operations Center or Joint Information Center. You will be asked to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance, which requires US Citizenship. The Ideal Candidate will have the below.
