About the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE)

Under the leadership of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, the Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) challenges students to become accomplished learners who can make meaningful connections among work, study, and community. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Communications in the Office of Undergraduate Education.

Note on Working Time

This position must be available to work standard GT business hours M-F, 8-5 (or 7-4 or 9-6), as well as some evenings as weekends based on student programs and with advanced notice. The first 3-6 months of employment are fully in-person/on site. Following this, some telecommuting will be available in accordance with OUE's guidelines. Responsible for strategy, development, and production of front-end web design for use across Institute websites and other communications platforms. Assist in the executing Institutions vision to clearly and effectively represent via the end product, and that visual brand consistency is maintained throughout.

Job Duty 1 -
Build and create web pages or applications utilizing a CSS framework, a content management system (CMS), and various templating languages and JavaScript libraries

Job Duty 2 -
Prepare digital designs, artwork, and other visuals in support of projects; ensure the vision of the Institution is represented clearly and effectively through the end product; and visual brand consistency is maintained throughout

Job Duty 3 -
Design highly responsive user interface layouts with attention to the user's holistic design, experience, and interaction flow; understand target audiences' needs, from the general public, peer research university faculty, and philanthropy, to students

Job Duty 4 -
Counsel campus colleagues and production personnel in conceptualizing and defining graphic design requirements; participate as web design subject-matter expert on cross-campus, cross-functional working groups that execute on Institute-wide marketing communications goals

Job Duty 5 -
Establish project priorities, evaluate scope based on design requirements, and propose a production schedule

Coordinate production process to ensure quality standards are maintained

Prepare review of final product with users to provide feedback

Maintain ongoing awareness of graphic design industry trends and developments

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in digital or graphic design or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Five to seven years of job-related experience

Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with diverse population, ability to perform and effectively make important decisions under pressure

KNOWLEDGE
Advanced knowledge of digital graphic and design principles and processes; strong knowledge of latest web development cycle and programming techniques. UX/UI design knowledge

SKILLS
Strong written and verbal communication, analytical, organization, and creativity skills; HTML and CSS. Proficient with Microsoft Office products and problem-solving; strong attention to detail

Additional duties related to the position include the following:

Consults on website visuals, UX/UI for all OUE websites.

Works closely with subject matter experts in OUE to design, create, and maintain dynamic pages to increase website traffic.

Manages project deadlines and coordinates with stakeholders including content editors, site owners, and subject matter experts on website projects.

Fields and responds to website requests, including making content updates and design tweaks to existing or new pages as requested.

Conducts website audits reviewing for accessibility, UX, UI, and compliance issues. Proposes solutions and works with the Assistant Director of Communications and site owners to determine next steps.

Works with Institute departments including Institute Communications (IC) and Institute Information Technology (OIT) to uphold brand standards and best practices across OUEs web presence.

Sits on Institute and OUE committees and workgroups when relevant, ensuring OUE is aware of ongoing web initiatives, resources, and guidance.

Job Grade: I4

Salary Range: $63,158 - $74,527, annual. Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
