Position Summary An affiliate of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Workcred's mission is to strengthen workforce quality by improving the credentialing system, ensuring its ongoing relevance, and preparing employers, workers, educators, and governments to use it effectively. This position is responsible for the identification, development, and implementation of research concepts and proposals in line with Workcred's mission and vision. The position plays a critical role in Workcred's fundraising efforts. This position requires knowledge of trends in workforce, education, credentials, skill-based hiring, and how data is used in workforce and education. Additionally, the position involves some travel, which includes Washington, DC and New York City, as well as locations where Workcred has ongoing projects and activities.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with executive director, governance leadership, and Workcred staff to develop and implement research projects that are aligned with the strategic plan, and advance activities to support the organization's mission, vision, and goals
  • Partner with executive director, governance leadership, and Workcred staff to identify potential funders to support Workcred's research and projects
  • Write research and consultation proposals based on promoting Workcred expertise and business opportunities
  • Direct/lead professional and research projects to include data analysis and technical writing for the final reports
  • Examine business opportunities to define project schedule, costs, and resource requirements and build Workcred's revenue streams to meet budgetary goals
  • Write professional articles for publications and develop editorial content for external publication
  • Write research reports that are accurate and understandable by different audiences
  • Implement various research designs and methodologies
  • Utilize and analyze data, draw conclusions, and make evidence-based recommendations
  • Present on behalf of Workcred and/or represent the organization at meetings and events, as needed
  • Manage designated subcontractors to ensure execution of deliverables on time and within budget
  • Prepare reports for governance bodies (ANSI and Workcred Board of Directors, ANSI Executive Committee)
  • Develop talking points, congressional testimony, and speeches, as needed, for Workcred and ANSI leadership
  • Create/proof/refine written reports, presentations, proposals, and other deliverables in coordination with Workcred staff
  • Contribute to the strategic plan and provide thought leadership for Workcred
  • Contribute to identifying cutting edge trends in education, workforce, and credentialing and how they intersect
  • Support the Executive Director in seeking and developing business opportunities
  • Provide consultation to organizations within his/her area of expertise and as a representative of Workcred
  • Write blogs and articles that are published both in internal and external communications channels

Information Security Responsibilities

  • Attend/complete assigned information security training by the designated completion date
  • Read and adhere to published ISMS policies and procedures
  • Report timely any observed violations of ISMS policy, or known encroachments on information security, to your department leader and/or the information technology department

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree with preferred emphasis in strong workforce, education, and/or industry credential experience
  • Doctoral degree preferred with strong workforce, education, and/or industry credential experience
  • A minimum of five years of experience successfully supporting and/or managing multiple programs simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success conceptualizing and implementing research projects
  • A track record of publications
  • Experience presenting research findings and recommendations at national conferences
  • Five to seven years of relevant experience
Other Qualifications
  • Must be conscientious, self-motivated, and able to work independently; must follow through on actions with limited supervision
  • Must be able to meet established timetables and produce high quality work with meticulous attention to detail
  • Must have excellent organizational and time management skills are required, including the ability to successfully prioritize workload and manage multiple assignments
  • Must have the technical knowledge and skills to provide support, consultation, and expertise to other organizations as a known thought leader
  • Must be familiar with credential, education, and/or workforce data and able to analyze, draw conclusions, and make evidence-based recommendations based on those data sources
  • Must have solid active-listening, note-taking, and writing skills are required: must be able to independently compose professional correspondence and research reports
  • Must be able to interact well with other staff, function as part of a team, and report on activities at departmental staff meetings
  • Must have good verbal skills and poise for social interaction with highly skilled professionals from the private and public sectors and diverse segments of industry, academia, and government
  • Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment when operating in an environment where there are competing stakeholder interests
  • Must have the ability to travel to meetings and conferences to build relationships with partners and funders and present Workcred's research findings
  • Must have solid computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat, aptitude for using the Internet for research purposes, ability to work with membership databases and report-generating software, familiarity with online meeting platforms such as WebEx and Zoom, etc.
Starting compensation will be in the $175,000 to $225,000 range, depending on education, experience, and other qualifications.
