Responsible for supervising all aspects of Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) policies, procedures, and programs to promote a safe working environment free from recognized hazards. Responsibilities includes supporting all production activities at various government installations and shipyard facilities. Prepares required ESH reports to the customer to support Company work operations. Supervise assigned ESH Inspectors to oversee work operations to ensure compliance with ESH procedures and programs. Support employee training needs, promotes job-specific training, and maintains accurate recordkeeping. Reports weekly to the ESH Manager for the continuous process of improving the Company's ESH culture. JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Review and ensure compliance of all ESH procedures as they pertain to work items and everyday operations. 2. Assists in the development, evaluation, and upgrading of ESH procedures and programs. 3. Performs ESH surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented. 4. Conducts post-accident investigation and prepares reports identifying root causes, short and long-term corrective actions. 5. Practices safe working techniques and re-enforces the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company. 6. Provides daily guidance to EHS Inspectors in EHS programs and regulatory standards. 7. Executes training for employees in work site safety practices. 8. Assist in employee training by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs for the operation. 9. Assists and maintains environmental reports including Stormwater permits, etc. 10. Represents the Company in community or industry safety groups and programs 11. Stays abreast of any safety and environmental law or regulation changes that impact the organization. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Bachelor's degree in safety or related field preferred. 2. Prefer 5+ years of experience with 3+ years of Safety management. 3. Proven ability to handle day-to-day safety procedures, as well as preparation of departmental budgets, monitoring of employees and temporary staff work and planning of staff moves. 4. Must have Microsoft Office Software experience. 5. Excellent communication skills including interpersonal, written and verbal. 6. Must be able to gain access to military installations. 7. Must be able to pass a drug test and background check. 8. Must have reliable transportation. Physical Requirements: 1. Ability to lift 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. 2. Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time. This is a physically demanding position and may accommodate some physical disabilities. Physical dexterity may be required when performing walk thru and inspection of job sites. In the performance of the walk thru you will be required to transverse steep stairwells, vertical ladders and bending or stooping thru tight spaces. There may be the occasional lifting of materials weighing not more than 50 pounds. Environmental Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/vertical ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This position works primarily in a shipyard environment, where they are generally exposure to hostile environments, loud noises, hazardous chemicals, smoke, and extreme temperatures. This position may experience eye and muscle strain, backaches, headaches, and repetitive motion injuries from conducting daily shipboard walk thru. During work-site visits will be required to wear appropriate PPE including, but not limited to: Hard hat Earplugs or attenuator Safety shoes Dust mask or respirator Gloves |
