Position Overview: We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Quantitative Strategies Manager to lead HEN's trading platform algorithm team. This integral position will be responsible for optimization modeling, commercial strategies, and trade tool design. While the initial portfolio is centered on the ERCOT market, this role will explore opportunities in other ISOs. The Quantitative Strategies Manager's leadership will be pivotal in tracking, analyzing, and optimizing revenue streams, ensuring accurate reporting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive informed decision-making. Responsibilities:
- Algorithmic Modeling and Strategy Design: Manage a team that applies mathematical and statistical methods to maximize profit, minimize risk, and identify investment opportunities. Responsible for the design and research of systematic and quantitative trading strategies that replace or enhance discretionary strategies.
- Bid Strategy Improvement and Analysis: Implement and maintain a feedback loop with the Network Services team to integrate strategic improvements in daily automation. Monitor and analyze data derived from power trading activities. Identify trends and anomalies that have revenue impacts or opportunities. Determine strategies to rapidly execute into the platform.
- New Trade Product Strategy: Develop new product prototypes to enhance the portfolio's value for short-, medium-, and long-term strategic goals.
- Structured Trade Products Strategy: Develop and price structured products for BESS, thermal, and Load Service assets that manage risk across the portfolio.
- Revenue Technology Requirements: Determine detailed technical requirements for tools to improve bidding/hedging/execution and liaise with Network Services to ensure that scope, budget, and deadlines are met for revenue deliverables.
- Regulatory: Responsible for regulatory research and advocacy as it pertains to revenue performance of present and future investments.
- Market Insight: Analyze ERCOT market data, staying updated on market regulations, pricing dynamics, and industry trends that impact revenue generation and trading.
- Scenario Analysis: Provide fundamental scenario analysis to assess the impact of potential market changes, regulatory shifts, and trading strategies on optimal revenue generation.
- Data Integrity: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of revenue-related data for data validation and collaboration with the Network Services team.
- Project Valuation: Apply mathematical and statistical models to estimate the financial value of new and existing investments in technology and assets.
- Process Enhancement: Continuously identify opportunities to streamline revenue-related processes, improve efficiency, and implement best practices.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing Quantitative Strategies team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, mathematics, computer science, or a related field. Advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in energy trading, optimization, revenue analysis, financial analysis, or related roles within the energy industry, with a strong emphasis on data analysis.
- Data Management Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Python or other data management tools for data analysis, modeling, and visualization.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and draw actionable insights.
- ERCOT Market Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ERCOT market operations, regulations, pricing dynamics, and associated datasets is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to manage large datasets while maintaining data integrity.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments.
- Problem-solving: Proven ability to identify problems, propose data management-based solutions, and drive process improvements.
