POSITION SUMMARY:

The operations coordinator position will be supporting multiple departments within the plant including safety, customer service, Safe Quality Food (SQF) support and other operational support needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Safety Support:

  • Assist in maintaining plant Emergency Action Manual & Safety Data Sheets.
  • Support the development and tracking of plant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
  • Aid in tracking STOP Cards (behavioral safety) and other EHS tracking requirements including EHS Insight.
  • Assist in capturing Near Miss Reports and enter into the company safety database.
  • Aid in maintaining site compliance files including MSHA and other safety records, and employee files.
  • Provide all Amargosa new hires with new hire safety training.
  • Provide all Amargosa employees with annual refresher training and other safety meetings as required.
  • Conduct regular/routine site inspections and coordinate actions to correct deficiencies.
  • Accompany MSHA and other agencies on operations inspections.
  • Assist with conducting employee health surveys including noise, dust, and gas monitoring.
  • Ensure that all Amargosa employees have adequate and safe PPE.
  • Coordinate oversight of contractor safety performance.
  • Maintain the confidential nature of highly sensitive subjects.
  • Maintain and expedite communication of deadline dates to ensure management receives pertinent and appropriate information.
  • Coordinate safety incentive program and safety committee meetings.
  • Follow all environmental & safety laws, regulations, and internal policies/procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Customer Service Support:
  • Working closely with shipping and sales team to ensure orders are processed timely and accurately.
  • Modify orders in SAP and other systems where needed.
  • Manage SAP bill of ladens (BOLs) and update systems as needed.
  • Obtain/ship samples from lab for sales initiatives.
  • Provide SDS / TDS to customers.
  • Submit regulatory reports to the different States (Feed & Fertilizer).
  • Ensure all States licenses are kept up to date for agricultural products.
Other Support:
  • Maintain and update inventory of packaging materials including but not limited to: bulk bags, paper bags, pallets, poly pallet covers, stretch wrap, lab supplies, wrapper equipment/servicing, transport seals, GHS labels/stickers.
  • Oversee shipping department as needed.
Safe Quality Food (SQF)
  • Ensure a SQF workplace and follow regulatory compliance with Federal FDA - Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, Part 507).
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.
  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.
  • Following completion of SQF training, demonstrate understanding of expected safety, SQF performance and Food Safety Culture.
  • Complete periodic SQF training(s).
  • Each site location will ensure training is conducted for new employees and continued for existing employees.
  • Employees will actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.
ATTRIBUTES:
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a CPR and First Aid instructor certification.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be able to make reports and perform clerical work as required.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and exhibit independent judgment with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Microsoft office proficiency is a necessity.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and flexibility as well as a sense of urgency are required.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing, and sitting.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
  • High school diploma or GED Equivalent.
PREFFERED EDUCATION:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Business, Computer Systems, Human Resources, or other related area of study.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
  • One to three (1-3) year combined experience of safety, customer service, operations administration, or other related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • Five plus (5+) years combined experience of safety, customer service, operations administration, or other related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
