Job Summary

Provide specialized instruction and support services to develop combat leaders, highly trained recovery specialists and military freefall jumpmasters for the United States and its allies. For training on approved course curriculum to assist in maintaining fully mission capable Pararescue Jumpers (PJ), Combat Rescue Officers (CRO), Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Specialists, and other AFSPECWAR specialists as directed

Role and Responsibilities
  • Rigger (MR) shall pack, service, maintain and rig all parachute equipment and aerial delivery items for training scenarios and missions assigned to the Rescue Units on Davis-Monthan AFB. MR shall supervise packing and rigging and directed. MR will conduct training to newly assigned and contracted support personnel as required. The contractor shall maintain Personnel Parachute and Oxygen equipment, support logistical and course support requirements, and provide courses of instruction to assist in maintaining fully mission capable Aircrew Flight Equipment technicians.
  • Inservice, pack, inspect and maintain assigned premeditated and cargo parachute systems including but not limited to RA1, MC6, T11R-SP, Non-Tactical Ram-Air Parachute Systems, Raider Intruder, Military Tandem, and Butler Reserve parachute systems
  • Assist in building and rigging of aerial delivery loads, to exclude signature authority to Joint Acceptance Inspection (JAI) forms or serve as the primary rigger.
  • Inspect, service, and maintain high altitude supplemental oxygen equipment and accessories IAW USAF regulatory guidance
  • Perform Military Drop Zone Control Officer (DZCO) duties
  • Recovery and retrograde of parachutes and airdrop items during land and water airborne operations.
  • Supervise and/or load airdrop loads, training equipment, and logistic supplies

Required Qualifications and Education
  • Minimum of three years' experience with AFSPECWAR or SOF units
  • Master Riggers must have a minimum of one (1) year serving as an FAA Master Rigger
  • Knowledge of Military Free Fall (MFF) and static line (S/L) jump operations
  • Knowledge/application of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Master Rigger experience, competencies and skills requirements
  • Knowledge/application of USAF aviation flight safety program malfunction, mishap, and incident reporting
  • US Army Quartermaster Center and School (USAQMC&S) RA-1, Ft. Gregg-Adams, VA.
  • USAQMC&S approved RA-1 New Equipment Training (NET) or Mobile Training Team (MTT) rigging courses.
Preferred Qualifications and Education
  • Certification as FAA Master Rigger with back rating at time of employment. Chest rating must be acquired within six (6) months of hiring. AFES or AFE Program Manager may extend the time to 12 months.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Must be physically fit enough to complete the rigorous physical acts of performing recovery, washing, and drying parachutes.
  • Personnel will be required to pack a minimum of four full parachute systems per day which will include the ability to carry at least 70 pounds for 50 yards and be able to pull at least 150 pounds on a pulley system.
  • Travel: 20%
