Terminal Operations Manager

DIVISION:

U.S. Energy POSITION SUMMARYThe terminal manager influences the core of our businesses and is responsible for managing the day-to-day terminal operations. This individual will be required to take ownership and responsibility of their assigned terminal and direct reports. Required to oversee all activities tied to the assigned terminal, ensuring it operates efficiently and effectively.

Schedule salaried and dependent on business needs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Salary Range:$95,000-$120,000U.S. Venture's compensation range is specific to location and takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
  • Conducts and supervises petroleum products terminal operations in a safe and efficient manner to ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for effectively leading, developing, managing, and motivating direct reports contractors and employees.
  • Oversees compliance of all company policies and procedures.
  • Confirms load meter and additive calibrations and other integrity programs as necessary and directed.
  • Oversight of all projects and activities at facility.
  • Accountable for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all inventory records, as well as monitoring product variations at the terminal.
  • Acts as Incident Commander for terminal in the event of emergency situations.
  • Identify and understand root causes of incidents to identify trends and appropriate corrective actions
  • Identify, develop, and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce risk or create operational improvements
  • Maintain all DOT, OSHA, and all other required state and federal regulations and certifications pertaining to terminal operations
  • Maintain all Coast Guard certifications (PIC, FPSD, TWIC, and FSO card) if working at applicable terminals
  • Manage tank level inventories for load racks
  • Responsible for working closely with trading and scheduling teams
  • Instruct clients/drivers on terminal operations, procedures and assist where necessary to ensure that U.S. Energy continues to be the "terminal of choice."
  • Ensure that terminal facility maintenance is performed
  • Ensure that buildings and grounds are maintained
  • Oversee the quality of incoming and outgoing products
  • Maintain environmental, safety, and compliance records and certifications
  • Ensure that all safety and environmental regulations are followed by staff, drivers, and contractors

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk, hear, taste and/or smell; the employee must occasionally lift products weighing up to approximately 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Protective equipment required: steel or composite toe boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and gloves. All equipment is provided by U.S. Venture except for steel / composite toe boots.
  • Work environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Fumes associated with gas and oils prevalent.
QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 5 year's experience in terminal operations or handling petroleum products
  • Understands terminal operations and petroleum product handling systems
  • Mechanical and electrical skills and ability to troubleshoot terminal systems
  • Maintain 24- hour HAZWOPER certification and complete 8-hour refresher yearly
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work at heights up to 65 feet and ability to work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Ability to operate equipment and power tools
  • Willing to be on call after hours
  • Travel occasionally to other terminal locations
  • Possess strong leadership and analytical skills, effective decision making, good problem-solving capabilities, and excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Have excellent writing and verbal communication skills and be able to interface with field employees, regulatory personnel, contract personnel, and others in a professional manner.
  • Well organized and able to work effectively as a team member.
  • Takes initiative and is proactive in addressing issues quickly and efficiently in a safe manner.
  • Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations and possess computer skills that include the general knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe.
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision and understand the operation
  • Must have some knowledge of truck rail, and pipeline transportation.
  • Be able to tolerate, at times, the smell of petroleum products and paint
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driver policy requirements
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test (do not test for THC/ marijuana)

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience a plus
  • Experience using task management systems
  • Experience using inventory software
  • High mechanical background and/or mechanical aptitude
  • Construction, electrical, welding, terminal, or related background helpful
  • Strong focus on problem solving skills
  • Proficient in computer skills and utilizing SharePoint
  • High scanning accuracy
