The International Admissions Counselor assists in the recruitment, selection, and yield activities for international applicants across the first year, transfer and graduate portfolios; all efforts are focused on optimizing the experience of the international applicant and helping to manage funnel conversion rates in the achievement of stated goals (headcount, quality, revenue, and composition). This is a highly collaborative position that involves evaluation and familiarity with international documents and credentials and leverages the work of academic partners, administrative partners, international recruitment vendors and Jefferson Enrollment Management colleagues to achieve goals.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Student Recruitment: conduct student recruitment activities including off-campus, on-campus, and virtual events/visits.
  • Prospect/Applicant Outreach: conduct activity related to converting individuals from prospects to applicants and from incomplete to complete applicants.
  • Student Selection: under the guidance of the team leaders, determine selection criteria and design and implement application review and selection procedures including interviews & decision communications.
  • Admitted/Deposited Student Outreach: conduct activity related to converting admitted and deposited students to enrolled students.
  • Application Pool Management: working with the team leadership, ensure that the flow of applicants through the enrollment funnel supports the stated goals; manage offer targets, waitlists, melt-indicators, etc.
  • International Credential Evaluation: review international credentials and documents of undergraduate and graduate applicants to calculate grade point averages and assess qualifications.
  • Designated SEVIS Official: serve as a Designated SEVIS Official (DSO) of the University to issue I-20's to incoming students for VISA purposes
  • Key Collaborations: collaborate extensively with academic and administrative colleagues and international partners in the recruitment, selection, and yield of new students.
  • Admissions Team Responsibilities: as a member of the International Admissions team, contribute to efforts related to planning, policy & procedure development, and quality assurance & effectiveness.
  • Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity with various international educational systems and documents is preferred.
  • While some experience in a professional setting is preferred, it is not required.
