HDR has an opportunity for an experienced professional to join our water quality and regulatory support team in the the Missouri-Kansas (MOKAN) Area. This position may be based out of any of the following HDR offices: Kansas City, Springfield, Columbia, or St. Louis. The water quality groups works within HDR's Utility Management Services (UMS) business class, which provides leadership to develop, coordinate, monitor, and improve technical services for municipal water and wastewater utility support services. Candidates for this position should desire a role in the water/wastewater engineering industry that includes working closely with both our clients and internal staff to build successful teams. The Water Quality Specialist will work on municipal and industrial projects where water quality regulations impact or drive projects. A thorough understanding of water quality regulations and programs is needed. Primary duties include independently reviewing NPDES permits, Total Maximum Daily Load Studies, and new or pending regulations from the context of representing regulated clients, reviewing and analyzing water quality and hydrologic data, applying water quality models, and directing others. Other specific responsibilities include representing clients in regulatory interactions and as the primary line of communication, report writing and preparation, project management (technical staffing, budget and schedule control) and coordination with small to medium sized project teams. The candidate will also support marketing efforts, be involved with client management for clients in multiple states, and work closely with water quality, marketing, and local operations leaders to achieve established business development goals. Candidate will also maintain visibility and promote the water quality strategic practice in professional/technical organizations. He/she will support project teams to pursue and complete water quality related projects and support growth of the water quality strategic practice.
