The Department of Student Health and Wellness (SHW) seeks to hire Medical Scribes. Scribes are essential members of our healthcare team and work directly with patients under the supervision of licensed medical staff. This position is ideal for students pursuing health careers who are taking a gap year between undergraduate and graduate education. This is a wage position, with an expectation of 40 hours per week during the academic year and an anticipated start date of early August 2025, although an earlier start date may be feasible. Please note that there is an annual 1500-hour limit for this position and all other wage assignments at UVA also count toward the 1500-hour limit. Medical Scribes provide clinical assistance to SHW staff and faculty by performing on-site medical transcription. They work directly with patients to obtain patient data and specimens as required by protocols. They enter data into project and medical record databases and assist with documentation. They may accompany physicians on patient encounters to record accurate medical information including notes of communication, past medical records, laboratory results, etc. Specific Responsibilities may include:
