Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting

General Summary

Assists with all accounting responsibilities in Corporate Accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation and analysis, annual budgets and various financial/benefit audits. Serves in a key role in the financial close process at month, quarter and year-end. Delivers timely and accurate financial information.

Essential Job Functions

Prepares and records manual journal entries

Prepares and reviews various balance sheet reconciliations on a timely and accurate basis, identifying issues and taking the necessary steps to resolve outstanding items

Successfully meets month end closing deadlines including variance analyses and explanations

Assists with the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes

Performs various daily, monthly and annual analyses of financial information

Works with external audit firms, lenders and other third parties in the timely preparation and explanation of requested schedules and required reporting, including preparation of cash flow and equity statements, and financial statement footnotes

Assists with technical accounting research as needed

Assists with preparation and review of materials for Board of Director meetings

Assists as needed with fixed asset and lease accounting

Participates in ad hoc projects and analysis as assigned.

Must work independently and meet required deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting

CPA or CPA candidate preferred

Minimum three to five years of relevant experience

Technical Accounting research experience preferred

Requirements

Strong analytical skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Excellent problem solver with strong initiative

Intermediate to advanced skills with Microsoft Excel

Work Environment

Primarily performs essential job functions in an office environment. Occasional travel to SSC facilities and to conferences as needed. While traveling may have contact with hazardous materials. Work hours are Monday -- Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Physical Activities & Requirements

Continuously manual dexterity (fingers and hands) use hands in repetitive motion, utilize eye/hand coordination, sit.

Frequently reach with arms and hands, turn and twist head/neck and back/waist. Pull, push, lift, carry up to 35 pounds.

Occasionally, balance, bend, climb, crouch, stoop, stand and walk.

Must be able to hear and speak to employees, customers and business partners regarding day-to-day operational issues and exchange detailed information and instructions accurately & quickly. When in production, distribution, and/or retail facilities, must be able to hear equipment sounds, pages, radio and speak to co-workers regarding safety issues. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
