JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center for Health Care and Policy Research in the College of Health and Human Development at The Pennsylvania State University seeks a Senior Administrative Assistant to support Professor Dennis Scanlon in his diverse leadership roles. This dynamic position supports the Center Director, Principal Investigator, Professor of Health Policy and Administration, and NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative. The ideal candidate will bring strong executive communication skills, grant administration experience, and exceptional organizational abilities to manage complex administrative operations while interfacing with high-level stakeholders across academic, research, and athletic domains.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive executive support, including calendar management, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, expense reports, and timely response to leadership inquiries.

  • Manage administrative operations, including confidential files, databases, and systems, while serving as an approver for SAP Concur transactions.

  • Support grant management activities and assist with Health Services Research Colloquium series planning and outreach.

  • Handle academic responsibilities,s including Canvas course management, student communications, and professional journal editor duties.

  • Support NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative duties, including athletics compliance and academic matters.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including executives, faculty, students, high-level academic and athletics administrators, and external partners.

  • Serve as administrative backup for the Center for Health Care and Policy Research facilities, website content, and newsletter outreach.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate Degree or higher, plus four years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven experience supporting executive leadership

  • Understanding of grant management processes or willingness to learn

  • Demonstrated organizational ability and self-direction in both independent and team settings

  • Proficiency with required software including Microsoft Office, SAP Concur, Canvas

Additional Information:
This is a limited-term staff position, funded for one year from the date of hire, with a good possibility of renewal.

Schedule:
This position follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week on campus. Schedule flexibility will be discussed during the interview process.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
