Daikin Applied is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist II responsible for assisting in the development, implementation, and administration of the company's EHS programs. This role will work closely with the EHS team to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, Daikin requirements, and to promote a culture of safety throughout the site. Location: In office, Staunton, VA.

What you will do:



  • Conduct regular safety and environmental inspections and audits of facilities and equipment to identify and address hazards and risks
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of certain EHS policies, procedures, and training programs
  • Maintain chemical management documentation, new equipment, and approval process
  • Monitor and analyze EHS data, trends, and metrics to identify areas of improvement and implementing of corrective actions
  • Preparation of EHS reports and presentations as delegated
  • Lead EHS committees and teams to drive continuous improvement
  • Support and maintain the improvements of EMS (ISO 14001) and SMS (ISO 45001) document control and systems
  • Conduct or coordinate training to educate employees about safety policies, laws, and best practices
  • Assist in new employee orientation training
  • Assist site supervisors in investigations of incidents and severe incidents to prevent recurrence
  • Assist in the collection of samples for different testing analysis (storm water, chemicals, etc.)
  • Conduct risk assessments and recommend risk mitigation strategies
  • Provide EHS technical support and drive site specific initiative and projects
  • Promote Daikin's goal of zero accidents, emissions, etc.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations and industry best practices
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:



  • 4-year bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years in EHS or related field

  • The typical salary for this position ranges from $73,300-$111,600 in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
