DEPARTMENT: LP Delivery/Seasonal Agronomy duties

REPORTS TO: Plant Manager

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

As a propane delivery driver, your main job responsibility is to assist the LP salesman with propane deliveries, setting tanks for customers and collecting past due accounts. However, due to the seasonal nature of the propane business, during the slower months there will be agronomy duties such as but not limited to delivering anhydrous tanks, driving nurse trucks etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Performs pre-trip truck inspections
  • Loads the truck from storage tanks
  • Willing to work the hours needed to take care of the customers' needs
  • Establishes a route system in delivery territory, delivers LP products according to customer requirements.
  • Records sales or deliveries information on daily sales.
  • Prepares order forms and sales contracts.
  • Communicates marketing programs and distributes sales promotion materials to customers and prospects.
  • Adheres to and supports the company credit policy, checking credit history of patron before making a sale, and explaining policy to new customers.
  • Collects accounts as needed according to credit policy.
  • Follows up on all customer complaints and seeks solutions in a timely manner.
  • Submits required reports promptly as requested by supervisor and communicates activities in trade territory on a regular basis.
  • Maintains company vehicle, performs basic maintenance as needed.
  • Works to maintain accurate inventories of all LP gas products.
  • Willing to do other job duties during the warmer months, for example, paint tanks, install tanks
  • Willing to help in other areas as needed.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-2 years or more of sales experience to demonstrate strong reasoning ability to solve practical problems and handle customer inquiries and concerns.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Hazmat endorsement.

Must maintain or have the ability to acquire and maintain a CPS (Certified Propane Specialist) certification.

Demonstrated essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Must be able to travel independently and overnight.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Must be willing to work hours beyond those considered "normal."

Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions. Working conditions may occasionally include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures.
