Description The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network (MHCCN) is seeking a full time Hematologist Oncologist for in-patient consultative services at the Maine Medical Center (MMC), Portland, ME. As Hematologist Oncologist supporting in-patient services at MMC you can expect:
- The MHCCN is statewide, integrated care delivery network across the southern, central, and coastal regions of Maine and eastern New Hampshire. The dominant cancer care provider in Maine, MHCCN is comprised of 12 hospital partners and provides comprehensive cancer care to more than 6,800 analytic cancer patients annually.
- MHCCN's comprehensive cancer care program is ASCO QOPI, COC, NAPBC and NAPRC accredited.
- Fully integrated surgical oncology, radiation oncology, palliative care, patient support/social worker, nutritionist service. Incorporates leading edge analytics including ASCO CancerLinQ. EPIC EMR system with BEACON
- Robust research program through membership of the NCI's Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP). Opportunities to be PI or sub-PI of clinical trials
- A total of 19 dedicated virtual board meetings for multiple cancer types (GI/GU, liver cancer, breast, lung, neuro-oncology, hematologic malignancies) a month
- Faculty position of the Tufts University School of Medicine (TU). Participation in Maine Health's Hematology-Oncology Fellowship Program
- MMC is the state's leading tertiary care hospital with 700 licensed beds, a Level I Trauma Center and an affiliate of Tufts University School of Medicine with a full complement of residencies and fellowships.
- The in-patient Hematologist Oncologist consultative service manages hematology and oncology consultations from different services across MMC.
- 40 weeks Monday-Friday per year - 8 am to 5 pm per shift with APP and/or fellow support on consults.
- Rotation of 3 weeks on followed by a week off.
- Hematology/oncology navigation support for inpatient to outpatient transitions of care.
- Equal participation in weekend / weeknight call schedule (average 1:8)
- Supervision and teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students on consult rotation
- State of the art, designated acute hematology unit for in-patient care, staffed by MHCCN hematology faculty. The consultative physician will not manage this service.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- A degree in medicine from an accredited medical school.
- Successful completion of Residency/Fellowship at an accredited program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible for Oncology or hematology and oncology.
