Responsibilities

We are actively seeking a distinguished Architect with substantial expertise in various technical domains. As part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of analysts and engineers, you will be responsible for architecting, building, reviewing, testing, and releasing complex disease models using advanced scientific techniques. These models are critical for understanding and predicting disease progression, and as such, require sophisticated software solutions to integrate scientific data and models seamlessly. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in software development, systems architecture, and engineering practices with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

What You Will Do:

Design and develop robust, scalable software solutions to support disease modeling initiatives.
  • Collaborate with analysts to translate scientific models into executable code.
  • Ensure the models are designed with scalability and performance in mind, and integrate scientific techniques into software frameworks.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to best practices.
  • Work closely with analysts and other engineers to ensure the integration of new features, fixes, and updates in the disease models.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and analysts regarding coding standards, practices, and design.
  • Develop and implement testing strategies for validating the functionality, accuracy, and performance of disease models.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to ensure that the models undergo rigorous testing before release.
  • Ensure timely and successful release of software updates, bug fixes, and new features into production.
  • Work alongside analysts from Predict and engineering/technology staff to ensure the disease models meet both scientific and technical objectives.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Help manage the deployment and maintenance of the models and associated services.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in knowledge-sharing sessions within the organization to disseminate valuable insights and best practices across teams.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth by mentoring junior team members and peers.
  • Provide guidance on technical challenges and help cultivate a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 12 years with a Bachelors Degree. Additional 4 years of experience maybe accepted in lieu of the degree.
  • Proven Expertise in software development with a strong background in system architecture and design, cloud technologies, and software engineering best practices.
  • Extensive Experience in Python, Go, Java, and Kubernetes, with hands-on experience in scalable systems and complex software projects.
  • Familiarity with Disease Modeling or similar scientific applications is desirable, although not required. A strong aptitude for understanding and integrating scientific models is key.
  • Advanced Experience with Cloud Infrastructure: Knowledge of AWS, Azure, and/or GCP services, including but not limited to EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, and Kinesis.
  • Systems Integration and Automation: Proficiency in integrating complex systems, automating workflows, and ensuring continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Proven Leadership in Software Development: Experience leading development teams, providing technical guidance, and ensuring high standards for software quality.
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies: Familiarity with technologies such as Elastic, Cassandra, Kafka, Prometheus, and Grafana is a plus.
  • Experience in Code Review and Best Practices: Expertise in reviewing, refactoring, and optimizing code to meet performance and reliability goals.
  • Demonstrable experience addressing complex technical issues through innovative thinking and analytical prowess.
  • Exceptional communication skills necessary for effectively conveying intricate concepts to diverse audiences including non-expert stakeholders.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance.
