Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.


Assists My Sisterrsquo;s Place in delivering care, observing patient behaviors, providing daily community meetings and assisting in various procedures. Works closely with the BSW, Residential Operations Supervisor and transdisciplinary team and reports any changes in patientrsquo;s mood or behavior in a timely fashion. When necessary assists the BSW and MSP staff with pre-admission screening calls from referral sources. Also provides information about the program to callers. Serves as a 24 hour essential employee providing direct care to residents. Supports residents in achieving their treatment plan goals including but not limited to learning and executing daily living skills, parenting, dietary, and recovery goals. Patient population is pregnant and parenting women, and their children (0-6 years old), receiving care for substance use disorders.

Essential Functions:

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Ensures patient safety by observing and redirecting patient behaviors and completing scheduled rounding.
  • Utilizes verbal de-escalation skills in response to observed patient behaviors, and follows established protocols for safe and effective management of same.
  • Leads or assists with group activities such as community meeting, recreational groups and other unit activities, including meal prep Assists residents with learning and practicing daily living skills including assigned chores.
  • Monitor self-administered medications in absence of nursing staff.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, staff and other customers in written form, telephone conversations, and other verbal interactions.
  • Assists patients with completion of activities of daily living, and encourages independent completion of these activities when possible.
  • Completes required documentation accurately and efficiently, in accordance with MSP policy and department guidelines.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent Required; Bachelorrsquo;s degree preferred (12+ college credits in humanities or social services required for Philadelphia work locations).

AND

Experience:

1 year of related experience preferred

Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:

  • CPR Certified required or must be obtained within a 30 day time frame of being hired;
  • Valid current driverrsquo;s license required with a good driving history
