JOB SUMMARY

The Associate Vice President for Development Programs (AVP) oversees all aspects of UT Southwestern's major and principal giving efforts. The AVP supervises the Corporate and Foundation Relations, Gift Planning, Principal Giving, and Clinical Philanthropy teams responsible for securing gifts from individual and institutional donors in support of UT Southwestern's tripartite mission. QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

Required



  • Education

    • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.




  • Experience

    • 10 years of progressively responsible related professional fundraising experience.
    • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the seven- and eight-figure range.
    • Must have substantial experience and proven track record of successfully managing fundraising teams.




Preferred



  • Education

    • Master's Degree in a related field.




  • Experience

    • 5 years of directly related experience at an executive level.




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Job Duties



  • In collaboration with the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and other executive leaders within the department and across the institution, refines, implements, and monitors long-range development goals and initiatives contained within the strategic plan for development.
  • Manages Principal Giving Program focused on growing support at the seven-figure plus level from top philanthropists across North Texas and beyond.
  • Represents Development and Alumni Relations in inter-institutional fundraising collaborations.
  • Increases the success of UT Southwestern's development program by maximizing support from grateful patients, alumni, civic leaders, foundations, and corporations.
  • Establishes vision for gift officer team and ensures team strive to achieve stretch fundraising goals.
  • Secures major philanthropic support from self-managed portfolio of prospects.
  • Strengthens and enhances management processes, electronic tools, reporting, and systemization required for a large development program.
  • Provides vision, creativity, and direction to the development staff and faculty in defining the case for support and program parameters for solicitation, communications, and proposals for identified programs.
  • Assists in facilitating regular prospect strategy meetings with the gift officer team; prepares and monitors materials.
  • Identifies appropriate internal controls for gift officer team; provides mechanisms to monitor and enforce teamwork and communication.
  • Provides leadership to university-wide projects and campaigns for major gift fundraising purposes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
